It's going to be a good ride whichever way we go.

Nice photos ORexpat! I know many of those roads very well.

Terra cotta...

The hollow tiles used for silos were vitrified or glazed. This reduces the absorption of water, eliminating the need for a cement coating. Salt glaze was used for a period, which made the tiles even more impervious, but it resulted in a weaker structure.

There are many, many surviving tile silos that are quite well preserved and more pleasing to look at than steel or concrete silos. They are at least 75 to 80 years old as the mid 1930s was about the time that concrete silos had completely taken over.

Yep.

I had some guys digging a trench for me once and he hit a terra cotta pipe in the ground. Came to the door asking me what to do about this Terry Carter. I was like, "who the heck is Terry Carter?"

Took me a few minutes to decipher but I'll never forget about Terry Carter.

Went for a nice little ride in GWNF today... As I found out, it's a LITTLE early in the season to be heading up there!! Gravel, dirt, mud, rocks, sand, snow.... I saw it all.

ATV trails closed... Probably for the best!

Dirt nap? Not quite...

I damn near cried when I saw this. Late in the day, miles since the last fork, and this was the way the GPS said would take me home. I was afraid I had to ride down that snow again, but I ended up finding another route home.

Finally! A decent road!

Back on the tarmac

This whole ride made me wish I had a helmet cam... All the fun sections were just too much fun to stop for pictures!

If I get my taxes done I might be able to do the ride to Marshall with u. My garage is empty so shoot me an email if you want to come over one night this week and do the wiring project. Any night but Wednesday will likely work for me.

I hope you all found time to get out and ride some today. I had a nice ride with 9one9 this afternoon. Maybe he'll post some pics and build his post count.
