Don't be surprised to see a 30th f800gs up for sale in a couple months .

General questions for you guys -

I've talked myself (and wife) into letting me upgrade my ride, found a bike I'm interested in and got a decent price worked out with the buyer. The issue is the bike is financed thru Freedom Financial and I'm used to just showing up with cash. Trade cash for bike and title and things are good.

Not that this situation is unusual, but I'm wondering what's the best way to protect myself from getting ripped off. I have no reason to think this guys isn't legit, but never hurts to be careful.

How have you guys dealt with this in the past?

I got a urge for a Speed Triple I can't deny any longer.

Will you be ending up with the title after the transaction? If so...doesn't matter it's financed...Are you financing or is it currently financed?

TH

My oldest son has a speed triple...quite the motorcycle....

I'm not going to finance it. I don't think he will have the title until the not is paid off. I will do a bill of sale that's all signed.

Is there anyway I can wire money to the finance co and get the title sent to me?

If he will be paying it off after the sale get a bill of sale and his bank info. He may
have to sign the title but you can stay on him about the title. Not risk free but the bill of sale should be good. Have him put in the bill of sale by when the title will transfered to you.

I'd try and contact the financial company and see what they say you should do.
I've never bought a vehicle like that but I did buy a van that the owner had stopped making payments on and abandoned in a field. The title was in the hands of a collection agency at that point. I made an offer which they accepted which was 2/3's of the debt owed. They cleared it with the owner. I think they sent him a letter to sign, signing off on ownership. They sent me the title.
I would think something like that would work.

Let us know how it plays out.

No. I wouldn't bid the price up. Looking for a buddy. He says he wants aVStrom, but he might be interested in a good deal on something else. He is a little put off by the price of bmw add-ons, and no local maintenance shop. I like the 800, but done think I want to make the move now.

I stumbled on an UNBELIEVABLE deal on a 1000 Strom yesterday. it smells like a scam, but I figured I could chase it until it dries up. If the seller is really selling it as advertised, I would pick it up for my buddy. Otherwise, it's just fun to play right now. I will post up if I get it.
