Especially on a bike. The police officer put not only the public at risk but himself at risk, and for what? A highlight reel on YouTube?

Meet the Legend a local old timer whos is just that, a Legend. He has a clapped out old Sikk pit bike with Lifan 140 in it, he's been cuting local single track for years. When he's not on the Sikk he has an old XR200 missing a rear shock, he rides in gumboots and a hard hat usually. When he gets serious with a hill climb or really wants to haul ass he will tape the hard hat on with electrical tape. This man is amazing, I don't know how old he is but he outrides most guys on modern iron. I've watched him wander into the woods on a camping trip and come back out with a handful of magic mushrooms and regale us with stories for hours. He's towed a 1200# trailer full of scrap steel to the recycler nearly 100kms with the Sikk. I've seen him light a rag soaked with gas and toss it over the intake on that old 6.2 when whatever used oil he was burning for fuel was too cold to fire, he rocks. Long live the Legend!

Some old guys are just too cool! I hope I'm just a bit as enthusiastic for life as him when I get there.

He's a one of a kind for sure, he's living in an old van in the trees behind the track and happier than a pig in shit. There's so many Legend stories I could go on for hours.

Only when criminals run. If it is just a traffic violation, the guy should stop.

If it is my stolen bike/car the guy is running on, I want them to get it and lock his butt in jail, not show up at my house and give me a ticket.

Did you see the stuff in the road when the black car hit the big bump? Looks like our "just a traffic violation" guy dumped something he shouldn't have...then he stops the car and gets out to make a run for it.

Innocent people are at risk, but the officer can't tell why the guy is running. It could be a rolling domestic situation or anything else.

I don't hero worship the cops, but I do want them to get the criminals and the best time to do it is when they are in the act.

THIS! Here in Oaktown YO!, our police are so overworked and hamstrung with the "Riders" decision (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_v._City_of_Oakland) that the cop running LoJack located my car, and I located MY CAR PARTS inside someone's LOCKED GATED YARD, he declined to commit any effort to making an arrest, saying that "Unless someone hands me a part right off your car, it's a tough court battle to prove possession of stolen parts." He wouldn't even take fingerprints off a wrench left hanging on the exhaust manifold.

You paid for LoJack and the cops didn't do squat about it?

I'd be super pissed.

They found my car only slightly before the fuckers that stole it got the engine out. $9k in damage -- most of it labor and a new convertible top (the asshats stuck a screwdriver through it just for shits and giggles) -- but it was repaired, not totaled.

And, the cop that found it w/ LoJack baby-sat us and the car in a shitty, dangerous neighborhood for 3 hours until AAA could be bothered to get a tow truck to us. So, I'm not 100% pissed.

LoJack did it's job -- it located the car in under 7 hours (the Police could probably have been a little more proactive on response time, but stolen vehicles are Job #11, with violent crime being #1-10). LoJack doesn't guarantee an arrest, just recovery.

If the insurance company had totalled it, this is what I'd build: (it is the youtube thread, after all)

Was that the guy in the truck yelling at the woman in the car? WTF? He rear-ends her and he's pissed off? Dickhead.

If that was you in the video, damn, glad you pulled off to the side. Do you always do that, or were you just trying to go around her to catch up with your buddy?

Not me... I think it was the woman yelling at the guy, though.

Someone started a seperate thread on this video here - http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=881629.

There's a link to a news story about it - http://www.wrcbtv.com/category/21444...autostart=true
