Lets see, $7000 for a low mile factory reconditioned SM, 130 bux for H2W jetting, a Britannia Composites twin light fairing for $400, $400 for a Renazco seat and what? $1200 for luggage/racks?

$9,000???

5g of fuel, reliable & smooth carbys, great seat, wind protection, improved lighting,,,what else? Oh yeah, the most sensible & versatile performance motorcycle bargain in the USA,,,that nobody here actually wants.

I've been impressed with Bro's 950 SM over the past two years. Makes a very good sport tourer, very comfy and handles as well as anything I've seen.

Bro loves his carbs too and the Ti Akrapovics sound almost like a Ducati.

If I was buying a new scoot I be considering a 990SMT too.

Won't be surprised one bit when the SMT takes over from the Multistrada as a do anything, go anywhere bike. KTM could pull the Superduke & RC8 off the roster for the US, and just bring in the Adventures & the SMT, and have no problems. Me? I'll be keeping the SD for a long time, though.

The only thing I'd have asked they did differently is the low header, though I also would mod that stepped seat too.

The SE/Adv exhaust with a light belly skid/deflector would have been really nice for its roll as a multi-surface road bounder. Mine has a nice dent from the first damn rocky dirt road.

I went to the Irish Motorbike Show today and there was a KTM 990 SMT there:

There will be a demo model available in two weeks and it's €13,000 new here which isn't bad at all. I'm seriously considering trading in my 2006 VFR.

The WP suspension, brembo brakes, everything about this bike screams quality!

After owning a FI bike I will never buy a carb'd bike again. Sorry to spoil your plan for making an SMT but as long as it's carb'd and has no warranty it's not the same.

Never said it was the same but since the 990 is not an option in the USA, there are 07 SMs brand new in dealerships AND the KTM FI leaves a bit to be desired in terms of smoothness,,,I'd build a SM to MY spec and motor along happily. Oops, I did!

Nice! Fuel tank size? Long range tourer? Maybe even a 19" front wheel for off road.

IT NEEDS AKRA'S. Sounds like a sewing machine. Jekyl and Hyde is my type of bike!

Is it coming to the U.S?
