Thanks Jon, SMURPH, and voodoo... heres a pic of my and the better half coming home from a trip to Harrah's Cherokee Casino in the mountains here in NC.. 420 miles where done that day, now me and a friend are heading out on Friday to do our SS1000 (which will be my first) for the IBA... Should be a blast!

Its done, but the guys that mixed the paint did a shitty job. It's kind of a close match, but not close enough without it NOT looking stock. So, back to painter to be re-done. Tired of waiting...but oh well. It looks big, but fits the bike nicely.

Anyone find a Sargent seat uncomfortable, or just me?

My 07 had a Sargent installed when I bought it, and the PO had sold the stocker. The Sargent seems too hard to me, after about 300 miles or so I start to get sore. Anyone else think this? Maybe I'm just used to the touring seat I have on my Harley, I don't know. Just seems hard to me. The girlfriend thinks the same thing about the passenger seat.

I'm assuming that the russell feels better? Maybe I'll throw my sergeant on e-bay and buy one.

Anyone within 300 miles or so of 43944 have an FJR with a different seat I could sit on? I hate to just blindly buy other brands based on someone else's opinion. Heck some of you guys have ridden Iron Butt rides on XR's and KLR's, I think you'd ride on a board and call it comfortable.

I did 400 miles on my new FJR yesterday. I have to say I am pretty satisfied with the seat and the windshield. It's hard to make a "one size fits all" seat that everyone will be happy with, but I think Yamaha definitely made an effort. No doubt a custom seat like a Russell would be much better, but the OEM's can't offer custom seats.

I may replace both the seat and the windshield at some point, but I am in no hurry.

Got a guy that would trade me a 2007 FJR with 36000 miles on it for my 05 DR 650 in mint condition and my 03 SV 1000 in alost mint condition. Just wondering if anyone thinks this would be a dumbass idea on my part? I have been looking at the FJR for a while now and i am almost positive i will end up with one just not looking to screwed in the process. Can post pics of everything if it will help. Any info would be helpfull since i seem to be all over the place lately.

I'd keep the DR and make a deal on the SV.

He is not budging on the price at all, and i have my extra cash tied up in a minor remodel at the moment. I would like to keep the dr but i haven't ridden it any distance to speak of in months. I am going to go price some new ones this week, if i can get that dang gsxr sold i may just keep my other bikes and go buy a new one.

I don't know if I'd make that trade to be honest. Kinda depends on what you want though. Money wise it's probably about fair, but I'd have a hard time giving up an excellent dual sport and a SV that, in my opinion, is a good sport tourer with the right modifications. I'm biased a bit though, I miss my SV a lot.

Trade you a 2005 GSX-R600 for a SV1000? It wouldn't get you any closer to your goal, I know. Had to ask.

If the girlfriend didn't like the FJR so much I'd probably offer you mine for trade. I'm not allowed to get rid of it.

I know i will probably kick myself but... Got any pics. I don't really have a hard time letting go of the DR, they are great bikes and i have had a few of them over the years but this one is absolutly as stock as it gets and i do not feel like ordering parts, not to mentionmy lack of free time lately is down to nothing. I love that SV though, i think it is just the torque but it is a great bike to bomb around all day, i think i just want something that can still put a bit of strain on my shoulders when i want it to, but be comfortable for days on end as we have some rather long trips planned out for this summer. I am looking for something with lower miles but there isn't much out there as far as the FJR's go. As for riding in the dirt, i have a 525 exc project going on right now and am on the hunt for a nice 300exc to ride in the meantime.

I also thought the stock seat was a pretty good compromise. The Spencer Mod took a 50 mile range seat and turned it into a 150 mile range seat. Also, since I ride 75% or more 2-up, I had the rear seat done also for the wife.....the best part of that mod is that she doesn't slide into me at hard braking anymore. The best mod I have made to my FJR to this date was the Spencer Mod.

These are a bit older, bike looks the same except for having flush mount front turn signals, and the rear fender is gone. Let me know if you want more. I know both pics are the same really, it's all I have on my computer right now.

I kinda want your DR also to be honest. I just can't think of a good reason to get it, and I don't think I have anything to trade you'd be interested in. Maybe my XRR, but I don't want to get rid of that one.
