Whose 2007 FJR is being parted out on eBay?

I just picked up the rear fender assembly to replace mine (previous owner did the fender eliminator kit, and that won' twork well for a Seattle rider for 9 months of the year).

bonus that it already has an ADV sticker on it. that saves me $3

A few questions. I may buy a 2010 FJR,

I am going to look at a 2010 model with just under 6,000 miles @ $12,500.
I haven't seen it yet, but the pictures show it to be spotless with new Pilot Road 2's and saddlebags.

This bike would be quite a departure for me, as I've been on a DR650 for five years and prior to that
I was on a Bandit750 and a CB550K. I've never ridden a bike weighing 650 lbs. and I suspect it to be a challenge.
I have been riding since 1992, but only have about 50,000 miles of experience mostly on two lane
roads in the mountains of north Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia. Also a bit of jeep trails
in Colorado and forest service roads in the above states and a half dozen track days @ Barber/VIR/RA.
I'm 60 years old, 190 lbs, 5'10" with a 32" inseam and less than average condition strengthwise in the legs.

Question #1, the price is close to the NADA. Are there any thoughts as to the "rightness" of the asking
price? It's a dealer sale.

Question #2, are there any differences between the 2012 and the 2010 model years? Anything to look for?

I've done a good bit of searching on the net, but am uncertain about any improvements forward from the
2010 model year. If I like the condition of the bike and if you all think the price is fair, I'm going to ride a
friend's 2004 model to see if I can get confortable with the sheer mass of the FJR. My intended use would
be to have the bike for long distance touring. I won't be trying to shred any twisties.

Thanks for your thoughts.

The price seems a bit high near the end of the riding season (at least up north). Not a straight up comparison, but I bought a brand new 2009 AE for $11,577 in June of this year. Other than color, I don't believe that there have been any changes since 2010.

If you look around you may find an unsold floor model for near that price and have a warranty w/the option of an extended Y.E.S. warranty.

If you register at the FJR forum you may see a deals come up on the for sale section.

I would say the price is a bit high - but not an unreasonable place to start. I bought 2011 new for a little less than that. I would offer 10500 for it if it all checked out and you decided to do it. It's a great bike....

Curious,

Who from this side of the cybersphere is planning to attend EOM next week? I know some of you here as your forum names are the same here as in other places I frequent...but others are not.

I'm ready to go...too bad I'm a week out!

It isn't too late....you can still get in if you want. The only thing you have missed out on is the really cool EOM T-Shirt...it's all the rage!

Yep, you read correctly. I prefer to wear out my tires on the side as opposed to in the middle. Plus, I will be the one there with tools, a trailer, and a tow vehicle in case there are any less fortunate ones that need a lift back to the hotel from a OTR malfunction. At least I will have my FJR with me, unlike some that come to the rallys and leave their bikes at home.

Oh, and also, at my last EOM (2008), we piled a crew of riders into my truck and headed over to Hooters for dinner on Friday Night....I would not have felt comfortable riding with a bunch of guys on bikes planning to ogle women and swill beer.....much better that they had a sober ride back to the hotel.

The heated grips became standard in '11. Each year there are a few subtle tweeks, but nothing substantial. BTW, I'm 68, about the same size &weight as you. The biggest bike I'd had before the FJR was a 750. I find the Feej very nimble and easy to handle once moving... Just don't drop 'er...

Have a couple of FJR's near me I keep thinking about. 04 and an 05. Both with around the same miles. 04 offered at 5200 and the 05 at 6200. The 04 has a factory top case FWIW. Are there enough differences in the 05 to warrant the extra 1000 in price? I really like the blue, but for $1000 I'm sure I could get to like the darker silver. Figured I'd ask for info/opinions here to hopefully get a little more impartial answer.

Their are absolutely no differences between the 04 and 05 except color, and the 04 is WAY faster.

ABS was an option in both years, so you may be comparing an ABS bike to an non-ABS bike...other than that they are identical beyond color code.

The top case new runs about $700 I think but they can be had for $300 to $400 if your patient....you may have to paint to match at that price. I sold one from my 2003 silver for $250 in good condition, but I knew the guy.
