I would not want to do that. I put a 15 amp fused powerlet socket on the left dash panel to run a heated vest. It is directly attached to the battery so it can also be used with a trickle charger in winter.

A Gerbing jacket as I recall is 77 watts, so dividing by 12, the jacket alone would require more than double the amperage that would normally blow the fuse. Plus gloves, etc. It's not just the fuse that is sized for 3 amps, the wire core is not meant for heavier loads.

Which is why most of us have added a distribution point for electrical goodies.

I asked almost the excat same question at the fjr forum but didn't get a definate answer.

The general consenseus was that the original wiring was better left alone and for higher amp needs its better to use an accessory powerlet.
So thats what i did.

Camping with a friend and the wife, in SE Washington.

The wife and me waiting to get into a big cat zooilogical park.

Just after getting home from that trip. ~1400 miles two-up.

Waiting to get onto the ferry to Friday Harbour a month or so ago.

Riding around Friday Harbour.

And...attemtping to find a spot to put the relay and main fuse for my fuse block at 0 dark 30 in the morning. Fun times.

If Yamaha won't warranty it in your country (US & Canada are covered), Brodie's harness (on fjrforum.com) is a relatively inexpensive plug-in and I've never heard of anybody having a problem after installing it to spread the electric load. At the same time, you could do the ground spider harness and never have to worry again about either.
