In 1981 Indian con man Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh established a cult city here on a 64,000-acre plot of land, attracting thousands of devoted and determined followers. Almost immediate conflict with neighboring ranchers arose, principally over land use issues. In 1984, seeking to depress voter turnout in a state election, Rajneesh cult members introduced salmonella into ten restaurants in The Dalles, poisoning more than 750 people. To this day it remains the worst biological attack ever experienced on U.S. soil. Rajneesh was deported from the country in 1985. Before his death back in India in 1990, he admitted that his claims to be a God were ―a joke.‖

Actually N of Antelope on the way S from Shaniko. This curvy section is actually quite short, but south of Antelope all the way to Fossil it gets as good as it gets. Cute little cafe in Antelope too, although I wonder how long it can survive. There used to be a great eating spot in Shaniko but it went out of business a couple years ago. But Shaniko now has a gas station again. (Gas and short-range bikes are a problem in this part of the world.)

BTW, Antelope is the small town where the Bhagwan invaded back in the mid-80's.

Riding around Friday Harbour.
Did you make it to Orcas Island?

Very twisty roads and a nice lookout tower at the top of the tallest point on the island. Many switch backs to make it to the top.

Hey guys I've got a Harley now but once it sells (hopefully soon!) I'm looking at getting either an FJR or the ST. I sat on the ST and loved it but haven't gotten a chance to ride either bike. How do you think these two compare? Last MCN that did sport tourers didn't have the ST but they liked the FJR, and so do I.

No need to re-do this one if you Google this:
site:fjrforum.com compare st1300

Hours of reading but be warned. After a Harley, any of the FJR/C14/ST13 sport tourers will assimilate you.

Thanks for the reply, I'm looking forward to checking it out. I think they are all great bikes and I'm looking for something that the wife and I can two-up with SPEED!!

Of course, I also really like the V-Strom....
