Over the entire run of Gen1 and Gen2 bikes, I think there have been more than two total, but the only ones that I recall were widespread where the ignition switch recall for the Gen2 and the TPS recall for the Gen1.

new recall for the Gen 2 bikes for grounding issues. They just replaced my entire harness.

I've been looking at a sport touring bike for next season and the FJR is at the top of my list. I haven't had the opportunity to ride one yet but, from what I have read here and on other forums, I'm pretty much sold. I don't take too much stock in the magazine reviews (or lack thereof) since it seems like they are biased to one manufacturer or another.

Thanks to all of you for posting pics, stories and opinions of this bike. Now all I need to do is shop around for the right deal.

Bandit,

You have better self control than I do by waiting until next riding season.

30 days ago:
I picked up my third V-Strom 650 recently. In fact it goes in for it's 600 mile service in a couple days.

10 days ago:
I had the chance to ride not one, but two, 2005 FJR's that a friend owns. One had stock suspension and the other had performance suspension on it. We spent over three hours riding them and I new I had to have one.

Edit: I also test rode a BMW R1200RT for an hour before riding his FJR's since I had narrowed my choices for a sport touring bike to the BMW and FJR.

Two days ago:
I liked his FJR's so much that while I was looking for a used one I and came across a left over 2010 FJR at a local dealer. I bought it and put about 200 miles on it in just over 24 hours......LOL.

Needless to say someone will be getting a really good deal on my V-Strom.

And if things could not get better.... I'm on vacation this week and the weather is perfect for riding the FJR

Oh wait, things can get better... My wife says she likes the FJR better than all the other bikes I have had over the years. And I've had a lot of bikes.

Life is good,

Jon...

The only reason I have self control right now is because I don't have the cash to buy one. I don't like taking loans out on bikes or cars if I don't have too.

Plus, I figure that once the snow starts flying, I may be able to find a better deal on an FJR. Right now, I have found 3 of them locally that have low miles and are going for $6900 to $7900. I know I can get one cheaper than that if I play my cards right.

It would be a lot harder to wait on getting one if I didn't already have 2 other bikes in the garage.

Congrats on getting the new bike, Jon.

Bandit,

I hear ya about not financing bikes (toys). I feel the same way.

There are deals out there and from what I have learned the FJR's are still good solid bikes even when over 100K miles if they have been taken care of. In fact one of the bikes I got to test ride had about 128K miles on it and looked and rode like a new bike.

So far, the 3 that I have found all have less than 20K on them.

I may have to sell some stuff to get one but, it'll be worth it.

I always loved that color. Such a perfect shade of blue. I wish I didn't find inline fours to be buzzy, otherwise I'd own one instead of my GS. Hell, if I could afford the multiple bike disorder condition I'd own one just because I've always loved the looks of the FJR.
