The better's I can figure out, what does it do worse?
Glad you got one Ron, I knew you were looking, but don't think I knew you got one. I sort of think I might be looking for one next year, unless I decide to get a DL1000 like my buddy just snagged. |

i was originally gonna lower it, but just raising up the rear shocks nut made it so that i could reach the ground, and dropping down the front forks 1/2 inch helped too, it now fits me fine. Also kind of weird coming from a bike with only a couple upgrade items, to a bike that has hundereds of upgrade items available, the bigger tank is great to have. I do miss the xt at times tho.

is it possible to increase the seat height? I have someone that wants to trade me my atv for an 09 with only 1200 miles. I think at 6'3 that I am to big for it though, if anyone is around that height and could post a pic of you standing by the bike and/or on the bike it would be greatly helpful.

My buddy and I talked about it over lunch (he's always lining up new bikes for himself), and I decided I was going to get a DR650. That afternoon, another friend called him, and I had a killer deal on a KLR650 by the next weekend. The XT was in someone elses hands by the end of the month. If you have anywhere near a 32" inseam, I think you will be very unhappy with the XT, unless it's your first bike. I don't regret getting my XT as my first dualsport (and I only had 500 miles on my previous bike), it was a great bike to learn on, but I also don't regret trading up to the KLR. |

Nice 'Zuk, Ron! Enjoy it. The 400 and big tank will be great on the roads for sure.
It sounds like it's not a "tossable" or "flickable" as the XT. Unless you are in really tough off road stuff, the DRZ should be awesome! Enjoy

I do have a 32" inseam so looks like I will have to pass on it they seem like difficult bikes to sell in my area as well so probably not worth the chance on it. thanks guys.

I picked up an older one yesterday from the original owner. 1200 miles, rebuilt carb but needs carb mount screw/head thread work and tires because the original 32-year old Bridgestones still on it. Does run but likes the choke probably because of air leak at carb/head gasket.

Hi Stevemd,
I bought one brand new in 1982. So after many different types of bikes since then, what do I ride now? An XT225 and an XT250 of course! Funny how life comes round in a circle isn't it? Regards Reggie |

You aren't kidding. Back in 1976, after surviving a Norton Commando, I traded it for a new XT500. Great bike.
By the way, are there some good on-line parts sources? I will need some carb mounting stuff. I have a Yamaha dealer near by but you know their parts prices.... |

I need to get new rubber on the '80 XT250 above. The shoes currently on it are:
3.00 x 21 and 4.60 x 17 I see the Pirelli MT 90 A/T is available in: Front: 80/90S-21 and 90/90S-21 Rear: 120/90S-17 Will the rear Pirelli work ok for me? Which front should I get? Thanks, Steve stevemd screwed with this post 11-21-2012 at 12:13 PM |
