I heard the rear rack at cycleracks.com will fit the 09 ------------------------------------------ I just installed this rack from cycleracks.com on my KLX250S it is built really well and should work well for hauling all my gear when in the Baja. rambling screwed with this post 10-17-2009 at 04:37 PM |

Just looked at my manual for my '09 and on the cover it states KLX250S, yet on the spine it states KLX250T!

Did your '09 come with tool kit?
I just bought a used 09 KLX250s. Previous owner bought it from the dealer, but said it did not come with a tool kit. My spare Honda tool kit should work for the spark plug but I'll need to find a 27mm box wrench for the rear axle nut.
Did your 09 have the factory tool kit when you bought the bike? The parts file shows one, but I know some factories are making them "optional"

My '09 had a tool kit. It was in it's own pouch which was bolted to the rear fender. I'll bet if you look at dealer's pictures of the bike you'll see it there.
I just looked at the 2010 bike picture on Skagit Powersports web site and the tool pouch is plainly visible mounted just behind the seat. |

Thanks for that info.
I guess I'll just create a custom kit. At least I got the owner's manual with the bike

That figures...and the rotten bastids kept my reflectors too!
![]() Oh well, I pieced together some old Honda tools I had, including a spark plug wrench and a small box wrench that I was able to file on a bit and got it to work for the rear axle nut just fine. So now I am better prepared to ride into the Hill Country...having fun on the new 250, going places I wouldn't dare on the GSXR750 ;-) I've already put more miles on it the first week than the previous owner did in a full year! Now just need to start modding...let's see, rear rack, handlebars, handguards, footpegs, etc etc Here's a few of pics from the local area... And one more...

HMF Exhaust?
Anyone have the HMF exhaust with quiet baffle insert on their KLX250s?
Wondering how it compares with the FMF pipe for quality and sound and any increase in performance.

Can any one tell me how this bike does on the highway? I'm thinking about picking one for some serious touring next summer, yeah that right touring. I'll stick to mostly back roads but want to be able to hit the highway for a stretch if I have to.

Stock would be tough on the highway.....with a 300 jug or bigger and exhaust she will do highway and I call highway 75 mph minimum....but it is not fun, but she will do it in a pinch.
Now riding on 8 lanes of I95 per side in south florida on the lil klx is not exactly confidence inspiring ... but sure she can do it....can you? btw I always take the 640 adv if highway slab is involved and it's still a thumper so it sucks on the highway but it's my most streetable bike ....my klx is a little fun toy meant for sugar sand scrub with a plate and no maintanence.
