Good Read

I,m planning to buy in the spring so i have been doing a little research. Lots of good stuff here. If I choose the KLX250 I'll be back for some direction for mods etc. Thanks everyone.

I have a 2009 KLX250SF and recently just took leave for 20 days came back wheeled it inside to warm up for about two days and noticed when I went to take it out and start it that it is leaking coolant! I can not really tell where it is coming from but it seems to be around the radiator cap area and then drips down off the frame. I have no idea why it would be leaking coolant now that I wheeled it in to warm up? I just bought it in July 2009 kinda upsetting it is leaking anything...

Nice day out today, no coolant leaking bike starts up fine and warms up. I go to take off and it shuts off when I put it in gear. Ugh. I know its that kick stand switch too. What a headache.

How do I go about removing it?

Edit: Just undo the bolt and unplug it from where ever it plugs into?

Just follow the wiring up the frame rail and you will come to the connectors.
Unplug the wires from the switch and plug the connectors on the bike together to remake the circuit.
You just need to get into the habit of lifting your stand every time you sit on your bike, if it isn't second nature already.

On my DR-Z, I just put a tie-wrap around the the switch so it's always 'on'. No problem starting, but before I did this my boot would hit the sidestand on whoops and kill the motor for second or two. You do have to be careful not to ride off with the sidestand down with any fix you do...but that's just common sense.

The switch is broken, even if it(the lever on the switch itself) is up or down it will not keep running when I put it in gear.

How tall of a bar can you put on the bike with stock cables and brake lines? The CR High bend seem to tighten everything up and they are not much over stock. The switchgear is all the way into the radius, so I can't really narrow them any either.
What is everyone doing to get taller bars on the '09s?

Not too much, there is NO slack in the cables or wiring harnesses.

if you go with a longer clutch cable, i got tusk atv bend bars and some big bar risers (like a half inch), works great for me.
