My guess is yes, because people were using the piston and cylinder from the KLX300 in the KLX250 to bump up the displacement. Keep in mind the KLX300 is a kickstart, no e-start.

Hint #3
It does NOT mount to the luggage rack.

Bake - could I get a confirmation on whether or not the 351 cc kit would fit on a '99 KLX300? Thanks

How about you show us some spy pics!! We surely understand that if testing proves it's a dud, you at least get kudos for trying. Alright, we'll be patient..

Bill's 6'2", and I ain't by a long shot.
Ok, maybe.

A quick mention again about baseline jetting on the KLX351 kit. IF you're using the STOCK CARB AND PIPE, you still must re-jet!
DON"T run stock jetting! This engine loves fuel.

Here's where my bike is at, 1100 feet ASL. If you live in Leadville, at 10,000 ft. ASL, maybe stock jetting will work...
I use the KDX200 airbox snorkle, free carb mods, and the pipe mod.

Baseline:

#40 Pilot
Dyno Jet needle for the stock carb, full lean (bottom notch)
#132.5 Main Jet
Airscrew 1 turn

I do think the full lean on the needle indicates there's something else that should be better, but I've tried a dozen combinations, keeping a log of the changes, and this is the set-up my bike likes the most. Especially the pilot and main. Anything else, and it just doesn't run close to right.

If it starts ok on the enrichening knob, but with one blip can go off it at 10 seconds and idle good, the pilot is correct. You're way lean if it needs one minute warm-up or more before it will idle. Ride it, if it bogs, it's rich. If it surges at steady midrange and up, it's lean on the main.
Ride it, and then check your plug after a 6000 rpm pass and a throttle chop. Get stopped and turn it off as quick as you can. The plug you want is tan, not white. Dark plug means you're rich. Black shiny plug means you are way rich.

Good luck!

I cannot answer that as a yes or no, I'm sorry. It is marketed for the '06, '07, and '09 carburetor version of the KLX250S.

Spy Photos, Pat.Pend.

We are developing this auxiliary fuel tank for the KLX250/351. As you can see, it is not yet completed
but we see no major issues. A few weeks at most before we can test ride with 3 of them.
I anticipate more in this line of products. Many things are in development.

The first tank is mounted and is being ridden. Pics to follow.
Tanks 1 and 2 will be tested on the trails of Colorado the Memorial Day weekend.
Tank 2 and 3 will be tested in Colorado the week of June the 7th.

The tank capacity is 1.1 gallon. This gives 1/3 more range. The stock tank and our tank will be 3 gallons total.
The battery and battery retainer remain stock.

We are very impressed at how strong the mounting system is. The fit is very nice. Provided our test trips go well, this tank can be a production item.

edit: Tank #1 held 1.13 gallons.

I'm always looking for a lighter dual sport. With the 350 kit, what sort of highway cruising speed can you maintain without damage to the motor? Is the general rule 2/3 of max rpms?

I cruise at the torque peak, generally, which on this 351 engine is 6000-7000, so that's about right. The "redline" is 10,000. This big bore engine makes all the power it's going to make at a much lower RPM, at about 8000, you're just making more revolutions. However, it makes close to maximum torque as low as 3500, so it is more of a "tractor" motor than a peak RPM motor. I'm going to gear up a tooth to 15 at the countershaft, because the 351 will pull it at highway speeds. The 250 is just weak, and can't really use the tall 6th gear, in my opinion.
