I was clearing out some old books and rediscovered this one. Anyone with a love of guns and history should have a copy. Great photos and descriptions of some very historical weapons. I've been thumbing through it for the last 5 hours.

Well ... maybe I am just being an old fart and I still believe that a weapon mostly has to remain to be a killing instrument even without the capacity to fire.

My M1A was too large and heavy so I've recently picked up (stolen) a cherry SOCOM 1.

Waiting until next week to see if it's all that.

Also, if anyone is looking to part with about a semester worth of your kid's tuition I know where there is a great deal on a DMR clone.

Having sold my P226, I wanted to keep a high cap 9mm around and picked this up today. Big, heavy, steel. Perfect to keep on the night stand with a light or toss in the truck. I had heard the triggers weren't so good but it's lighter in DA than the sig was and reset for SA is very similar, a bit rough in SA but it will smooth out with a few rounds. All in all, very impressed with ergonomics and that it came with tritium sights too.

CZ SP-01 and the target from the first mag I fired thru it @ 10 yds:

Yeah, big target but it's all I had on hand.

I was at a gun show a few weeks ago. I stopped at the lone table that sold Thompson Center barrels. There was a 6.8 barrel with black letters written on the package DISC - I asked what the DISCount was? He told me that meant DISContinued. I had wanted a G2 6.8 barrel for awhile. I tried not to show my desire when I bundled another barrel and applied my own 10% discount - he accepted my offer. I ordered a 4x Leupold handgun scope, Warne Maxima rings, a base, dies, 200 brass, and some bullets. The below is a 50 yard group. This is my first scoped handgun and also my first rifle calibered handgun. I think once I get used to it all (handgun scope and rifle recoil) - I'm going to have a legitimate 200 yard handgun with my setup. The left side cartridge is a 55 grain .223 for size comparison to the 110 grain 6.8 Remington SPC on the right.

I really wanted a CZ 75 but alas its not Massachusetts compliant so I settled on a Ruger SR9. I've shot a few hundred rounds though the Ruger and now I really wish I had been able to buy the CZ. I like the feel of a steel gun better

What does a gun have to do to be "Massachusetts compliant"?

Specific magazine capacity, specific "safety" features, 10 pound trigger pull, spent shell casing for LE and has to be on the MA "list" of accepted guns which have passed a "drop test."
