That Swede Mauser is an excellent rifle, I've got 2.
Who's gonna know it's not a K-98?

You would think it would be hard to screw it up, it is after all a very simple design. But, many makers deviate from the pattern to either save time or save money and end up making a gun like object that kinda, sort of looks like a 1911.

I could spend a couple of pages talking about Para or even Kimber but I'll save that until later.

And I agree. Norinco made some great 1911 clones. They also made some really crappy ones, but only because their definition of "heat treating" hasn't really caught up with the rest of the world's definition.

Personally I hear nothing but great things about the Xd line.

They were not too expensive either it seemed, so a good entry level piece. The mag extender made a difference, even with my small hands my finger were at the end of the short grip on most of these compacts. By design most likely but felt weird to a n00b like me.

If I were into plastic pistols, I'd either have an XD or a M&P or a GLock.....

It really depends if you like the Glock grip angle or not.

The XD's are more like a traditional pistol. It has a grip safety like a 1911. The grip angle is also like the 1911. The only downside to the XD is that they used to be much less. They are a Croatian made pistol. They were called the HS2000 and were selling for around $300 back in the day. You may also want to do some searching on 'KB' or 'Kaboom' with the Glock.
