The Plaster design Marketed by Choate. Mine was the Varmint version which I liked a little better than the Sniper Version. Here's a link.

*One of them might be a "Choate Ultimate Varmint", but that would be splitting hairs.
True but mine was the Super Varminter, not the Super Sniper. The fore-end of the Sniper was too short for using over a ruck.

I've got the sniper version on my 10FP .308. It's an honest 1/4 MOA rifle, although it's damn heavy.

What ammo do you use to achieve consistent 1/4 MOA?

Has to be handloads (to GMM specs) or Federal GMM. Same rifle I used in my build, although I did firelap the barrel, and have the action blueprinted.

Yes, careful handloads. Lapua Brass, Gold Medal Match primers, Varget and 168 Gr A-Max or Matchkings. The barrel is also firelapped (tubbs final finish).

If it is the same guy John Plaster has some very good books about SOG in Vietnam....I strongly suggest reading them if you are intrested in those types of books.

He also wrote The Ultimate Snipers Handbook.

Good read if you are or aren't a Sniper

I am currently reading this one:

A different style but still a pretty good book.

You can tell that he is pretty....tainted....I guess I would say...but there are still some intresting things in there.

I generally don't care about what people say about books and movies, if it is a topic or theme that I am intersted in I will read or watch myself and make my own opinions.

I was in my back yard yesterday after work feeding my goats. I had been shooting at a couple golf balls from the fence line last week (my back acre is fenced for my goats, and I live on ten acres) and decided to see if I could hit the furthest one with the newly tricked out RIA Tactical. The ball was about 80m away. I put in some .45acp rounds for ear plugs, had my glasses on, and aimed POW!` The golf ball is no longer of this Earth! Super Lucky shot but made me laugh since I actually hit it on the first try. I reholstered and finished feeding my goats and chickens.

One thing I can say about the reviews is, no kidding the book isn't 100% factual. One can only research to a point, and also has to do some creative writing for a book or else it becomes a written documentary which probably won
t sell anywhere near as well. I can say that out right lies about a mission if it is known one is writing a lie about it but this book is probably written both from John PLasters best knowledge of the facts, and a little creativity and maybe some embellishment. So what, it makes it all the better IMHO. SHoot, look at any supposedly factually correct book about any of the gunfighters of the old west. They are all so embellished and full of inflated stories that they are downright factually incorrect. I saw a bunch of items in his book Ultimate Sniper too, but most were just little things that change in Sniper Training over the years. I can tell you first hand that Sniper Training is proabably 50% different now due to the equipment than it was when I went thru it (US Army Sniper School) in 1980.
