Flock of geese and a VT fuse. Herd of antelope is also acceptable.

Apparently the muzzle energy is roughly equivalent to a WW1 tank round or getting hit by a 2800lb car doing 20mph (think Mini Cooper).

The night vision shit is stupid if I hunt at night I want them close and a slug or even a .357 or above handgun will do fine. I will say the faster autos like 3006 do not seem to take them down as quick as say a .44 mag. Not sure why.

My buddy has an old ruger .44 auto and actually that is what I'm looking for. I've shot them with my Judge rifle and it does pretty well. IMO a slow heavy bullet kills hogs the best.

Ok, Here's the deal...

I have a Kimber Eclipse Ultra II (the older model w/ext extractor PIA) and an Springfield XD9-sc. I hate the Kimber but I like the xd, although it is well used. It has over 5000 rds through it.

I'm looking at doing a straight across trade for a Para-Ordinance Tac 4 LDA in very good cond and a CZ 75B (looks like a safe queen) with tritium sights. I've wanted a CZ for quite awhile. I'm not very familiar with the Para but I like the idea of the DA and 13 rds vs 7rds with the Kimber.

what do you guys think...

Shoot them both? Traiding guns for a profit is another deal. What do you want to do?

I'm not a collector, I shoot them. I do know the Kimber is worth more on the face of it, but to me the Kimber isn't much better than a rock with its FTF/FTE issues.
The gun just isn't reliable and pretty don't put it down range. The XD-9 will be easy enough to replace cheaply. I would end up with a very nice CZ75 and a Para Ord Tac 4 double action 45.

Anybody have any experience with the Para's?

How is it still better than a Rock if it has FTF/FTE issues?

Does name branding still go that far?

I thought Kimber was fixing those by replacing the slide?

I have a 20y/o Para P13 and never had an issue with it. Then again, I also have a Kimber and never had an issue with it. It is even one of those wicked external extactors that everyone hates.

Sounds like a win/win for you. You want the CZ and hate the Kimber. The Para should be just fine. If not, then are you any worse off?

I'm curious as to what lame, knee-jerk reaction you have to women that own firearms? "I own guns 'cause I've got small tits", perhaps?

Also, please learn how to use an indefinite article.

In any case, the only thing I'd like to add anytime soon would be a 10mm upper for my AR. It'd be nice to bring only one calibre (for Chewie) to the range.
Maybe a little clit?

Nope.

Did the deal, total cost of 25.00 to Brady.

Took both the Para-Ord and the CZ out late this morning and put them through the wringer. We didn't have a single misstep from either one. The Para has a surprisingly nice trigger with a smooth tight action. I was continuously throwing a myriad of mixed ammo in the magazine trying to get it to jam. It ate it all and spit out the brass without so much as a hiccup.

The Tac Four has a four inch barrel compared to the Kimber's Three. For a 3" barrel the Kimber shot beyond my expectations, accuracy was never one of my grievances with it.

That being said, the Para is better. Maybe it's the additional inch, maybe it's the smoother action, maybe it's just that it has less muzzle flip. All I know is that I shoot it well beyond what I was capable of with the Kimber.

The Kimber aesthetically was a beautiful little gun. Kimbers also hold their value well. Neither of those matter much when it don't go bang. The Para sure isn't a sin to look at either though, and it seemed the more I shot it the prettier it got. 13 rounds downrange all day long makes for a good day.

Comparing the CZ 75 to the XD9 sub compact really isn't fair to the XD. I have no knocks against the XD, it was a damn tough, dependable gun. I abused the hell out of mine and never had an issue with it. I definitely plan on getting another one again down the line.

Getting the CZ was the entire reason for putting the deal together to begin with. I picked up a CZ 452 .22 a couple of years ago and was extremely impressed with it. I got their Trainer model basically because I wanted a good field gun and it comes with the birch stock instead of the nice maple wood. CZ makes some of the nicest quality put together .22s that I've seen, period. Mine is also accurate, really really accurate. It's not a tack driver, it's a pin driver. Did I say I like my CZ?

Now that I've shot the CZ75, I would have gladly traded the Kimber straight across just for it. We did the same thing to the CZ as we did with the Para, mixed mags with everything from sub-sonics to +P and hollow points. It functioned flawlessly. This gun fits my hand better than 95% of the guns I've ever fired, the shootability is almost natural.
I was popping clays fifty yards out & up the hill like it was second nature. Point, pop. Point, pop. Point, pop.
This gun isn't even broke in, so as smooth as the action is I only expect it will get better.

I think I did allright,

Love my CZ 85B (ambi of the 75)-
Had it now 15 years or so. I agree it "fits" my hand.
Here loaded with dummy rounds

Nice.

The CZ is in no way a pretty gun. A friend and I went out to shoot some sporting clay last weekend. I told him to bring a couple of pistols with him and we could hit the range afterwards. He had a Beretta 92 with him. If you put the Beretta and the CZ side by side, the Beretta would be the Supermodel and the CZ the Plain Jane girl next door. I liked the Beretta it's a good shooting gun with nice lines but it just feels awkward to me.

I like the wood grips but I'm probably gonna do this, I like the olive ones...

Anyone here aware of a manufacturer of aluminum alloy 1911 commander length frames? Caspian doesn't have them but they do have titanium (for a hefty price as expected). I'm interested in building a lightweight, bobtail 4.25", price may slow me down though....
