And the AR stock, plastic, rails, muzzle brake, flash hider, etc... doesn't bother you?

You clearly missed the "Supposedly" part in the post. As I stated before, I have no idea when the rifle was made or of its origins since there isn't a single marking on the gun. I was with my father when he bought the gun (I was about 8 or 9 at the time and I'm 45 now) and remember what he was told. Was it true? Who knows... I don't even know if 7MM is the right cartridge for the gun. But as I stated before, I will have the gun evaluated by a professional and report back...

The Russain Zar,ordered alot of these riffles in the 1890's in 7mm.
If i had to guess,,i'd say this was one made for that market, either a Cav carbine,,or it was converted for the civilain market when they were bought back to the USA.
Don't know unless i was looking at the rifle in hand,,but civil war,,,,,,noway.
The Feds ordered a pile of them starting in March 1864, but they were never issued during the war, hostilities ceased by the time they took full delivery. They were bought back by Remington and sold to the French and used in the Frank-Prussian war.

Send me as many pics as you've got. I'll bounce it off my reference materials and see what we come up with.

I'll try polishing the guide rod and recheck that the extractor it tight. I sure hope that takes care of it, I really don't want ot have to send it in over something like this.
While you are messing with the extractor be sure to remove the firing pin and clean the channel. Maybe you can put a little more bend in the extractor like a 1911.

or:

Mattel Buckle Gun and Western Belt Set w/ Box

Up for sale is a very unusual little buckle gun made by Mattel in the 60s. This gun was made to fire when stomach was pushed out, as shown on the back of the box. This set looks brand new and never played with, but is missing the two toy bullets. Clear plastic window, on box, has been torn from toy removal. Unique Remington Derringer toy gun from Mattel.

Yes, looks silly in a bad way. Not even an attempt to be period correct.
