And yeah, they're pricey!
This, if capacity is not an issue.

12GA Rifle From HELL--
Visiting here to let folks know about our latest
big wildcat cartridge.First it was developed by Rob,John
and I over on AR big bore forum. It is a long brass case
made from bmg brass that we put a 12ga size rim on.Rob and
John used a Borchardt falling block action and I used a
Savage 210 bolt action shotgun that I put heavy barrel and
and stock on..In testing I got a 730 gr Dixie hard lead slug
out at 2700 fps.Got a 3/4 oz barnes sabot out at 3900.
Here is picture of our case next to a plastic 12ga shell,
which can also be fired in our chambers.Ed.

Good catch. I didn't notice she had no eye protection at first, but did soon after that pic was taken. I keep a spare pair of inexpensive yellow-lensed sunglasses in my shooting bag and had her put them on. I wear glasses so am always 'covered'.

As for the revolver thread, count me in!
I agree. I'm good-sized, 6'2" and about 200#, plus my work requires me to wear a suit or sport-jacket most days, so carrying a 2.5" K-frame shouldn't be a problem.

They're still not that hard to find, although nice ones are getting expensive. Still, you can get one that is 98% for less than you'd pay for a new similar gun, say a S&W 686. When someone bitches about an excellent condition 66 2.5" costing $550 or $600, I scratch my head. A new gun with MIM parts, the trigger lock, sometimes the goofy two-piece barrel, and lacking some of the fit and finish of the pre Y2K guns, is going to cost a bit more than that and is it really worth more? I don't think so. Don't get me wrong, I like some of the new S&Ws a lot, but finding a nice, barely used pre internal-lock gun for less money is still possible, and worth it in my opinion. I do think, however, that this will not be the case for much longer.

Anyway, if there's any interest in a stand-alone revolver thread, we should get one going.....

My latest addition, picked up about 2 weeks ago, is a Smith & Wesson Model 66-1 2.5" 357. This is a K-frame, the Combat Magnum in stainless.....the blue-steel or nickel equivalent was the Model 19. They were made until 2005 when the K frame magnums were sadly discontinued, and in a number of different barrel lengths with 2.5, 4 and 6" being the most common. 3" guns exist but are harder to find and command a premium.

This gun is very nearly pristine, was made in 1980, and has a very smooth double-action trigger and very crisp SA pull. My girlfriend & I took it out yesterday and ran about 50 rounds through it. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it shot, accurate and mild recoil. We were shooting handloads, 158 grain SWC lead bullets loaded pretty mild in 357 brass. The gun has some aftermarket grips, but did come with the OEM ones as well as the original box, papers and tools.

I am thinking that this might well become my CCW gun, but I need to track down a good holster for it. Only pic I have is this one, but I'll take some better close-ups and get them posted in the near future.
Where is the N frame thread? I'd be interested in a revolver thread if we could get one going. I'm mostly into revolvers and 1911's, nothing plastic. One of my carry pieces is a model 360, a Scandium .357 J frame.

Next Purchase Dilemma

I have a problem and I hope you guys can help me out. I'm in the market for a new semi auto for plinking but I have a few requirements.

1. Around $400. I could maybe swing $500, but I'd rather go $400 or below.

2. Cheap ammo. It's for paper and steel and maybe the occasional varmint, and I plan on shooting it a lot. I have a 10mm that I love, but it's expensive to shoot. I assume that means I'm looking at a .22 or 9mm, but I'm open to suggestions.

3. This is the big one. I have to buy it at Bass Pro Shops. I've got $400 in gift cards so I'm pretty much stuck with what they have.

So far I'm tossing these around in my head.
Baretta Neos
Browning Buckmark
Ruger MkIII
Walther P22
Ruger P95
S&W Sigma SW9VE

They won't have the Ruger SR22 for at least 6 months otherwise I'd likely get that.

I want something that's just plain fun to shoot.

Those.

You can get a kit to turn the Neos into a carbine and back, just make sure you put the long barrel on first and off last.

I'd order a SR22 online and have it shipped to your FFL. Seems like a really nice gun. I have a Walther P22 and while mine's been pretty good, I'd get a Ruger SR22.

Love my Neos! More accurate than me, easy to care for, the aforementioned carbine kit, enough mass that it doesn't move when you pull the trigger, ...

Get the base model and spend the rest on bulk ammo - you're going to need it!

Here's the N-frame thread, has not had action in a while:

http://advrider.com/forums/showthrea...hlight=N-frame

I'd like to get a revolver thread going. Maybe I'll start one in the next few days.....unless someone else beats me to it!! Feel free, I'll not be offended!

Sigmas are shit-tier guns. P-Series Ruger would be much better. I've owned both. And I loathe Ruger.

For a .22 I think the Buckmark or MkIII would be the best.
