Oh yeah.

Have you had any issues with yours?

Their refurbed ones on their website are priced pretty reasonably.

I've been complaining here for a while about not finding a lever carbine in .357. Finally bought a new Marlin which turned out to be one of the poorly manufactured models (serial number beginning with MR). Complained more here and returned it. Then, spent too much money but got an "as new" 1997 Winchester model 94AE Trapper. Really nice carbine. Can't wait to get it and it's big brother in 30-30 out to the range.

I just picked it up a few days ago, I'm hoping to go to the range tomorrow. Will report back.

I got outbid on a Camp 9 on Gunbroker last week. My plan was to throw a folding stock on it since I couldn't find the SUB-2000 I want.

The Kel-Tec seems to be made out of unobtainium.

Saw this and thought of our Glock vs "all guns with manual safeties" are better argument.

Botetourt County man hospitalized after shooting self

By Jordan Fifer
981-3234
A Botetourt County man accidentally shot himself Friday while reading the instruction manual for a gun he’d just purchased.
The 28-year-old sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening after shooting himself in the left leg with a .45-caliber Rock Island Armory 1911 pistol, county dispatchers and officials said.
Botetourt County Sheriff’s Deputy T. Francis said the Fincastle man had stopped in his vehicle just after 6 p.m. in a parking lot in the 5200 block of Lee Highway in Troutville after buying the gun. The man, whom officials did not name, “was unfamiliar with the operations of the firearm,” Francis said.
The victim was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where his condition this evening was unavailable.
No charges have been filed in the incident, Francis said.

They have yet to make a gun that is idiot proof.

Yeah, even though I'm no big fan of Glocks, I recognize that any gun can discharge under the wrong circumstances if someone fucks up bad enough. Fiddling with an unfamiliar gun, a moment of inattention, maybe a brewski or two under the belt, and KABOOM.

We had a Montana Highway Patrol trooper here years ago who was something of a S&W guru. He packed a 44 Magnum on his belt ala Dirty Harry....this was circa 1979 or 80. One day he somehow managed to get the gun caught on his seatbelt as he was exiting his squad car and it started to fall, he grabbed for it, and blew off an ass-cheek. He always sat at an angle after that. And the MHP went to semi-autos soon thereafter too, I think Beretta 92s IIRC, although I think now they have more choices.

That is very nice. I've always been a fan of Marlin, and that's a very good example. I've always thought they've had some of the nicest wood.

A Cop Here!

About 15 years ago was fooling around at home with his snub 686 with Glasers in it and not sure how but accidently shot a finger off. He was also a police firearms instructer. He got his other cop buddy to drive him to the hospital where the surgen proceeded to make it a clean cut. His buddy watched as the doc off cut what was left, and said, " can I have that". A true story.
