Does anyone have "DIRECT FIRST PERSON" experience with this firearm?

Who can pick one up for me at Hoffman's Gun Center in Newington, CT and shuttle it back south?

$299.00 is $70.00 cheaper than I have found it locally.
Yesh, that is a straw man purchase and illegal so you should delete this post. You can order one from them and have it shipped possibly. It'll only cost about 30 clams more for the transfer.

It would be a gift of course!
Yes, but it is still illegal for someone other then YOU as his Father to buy the gun and let him use it. BUT you can't technically give it to him till he is 18.

Now Sniper; you know this isn't my first rodeo!

Gift to me, no Straw Man transfer.
Of course I would own the gun as he is a minor.

Now disassemble your weapon and continue!

It's been quoted for posterity...

I'm sure BATF will be here shortly to arrest me for "intent to get a deal on an out of state firearm" and "conspiracy to conspire via the internet"!

This is pretty cool, I think I like it better than the wax slug bit.

Just picked up a new to me Western Field 750A and am looking for a spanning one piece base to mount a scope on (with little luck). A friend of mines dad gave it to me and the stock is in great shape, but looks as if the rear mount was re-welded.. ill post up some pics shortly. anyone have any experience with this make (from what i can find it was a Mauser)

So, wear gloves when you handle it, but don't worry about melting it down in a confined basement with no moving air?

I'd rather do it outdoors, but melting lead isn't a big deal as long as you keep it under 600*.

I'm somewhat concerned at the speed of oxidation of molten lead. Lots of slag on top and somewhat difficult to pour (course I wasn't trying to pour bullets).

That dross on top of the lead actually has some tin and antimony in it. It needs to be fluxed to return it to the alloy. Drop a small piece of beeswax in and stir. Then skim off what's left.

So, under the melting point?

I just found it weird that he wore gloves but melted indoors. I've always melted outdoors and I wear gloves and glasses.. sometimes a respirator.

Supposedly my uncle used to melt valve covers full of lead wheel weights on the kitchen stove for ballast in his race car. I bet that was pleasant.

Oop, yer right.

I think it's 800 where it starts giving off fumes?

1100 is what the EPA requires Heat Guns to be below when working on Lead Based Paint....
