Love that photo. Can anybody be on deck when the big guns are fired? I'm thinking not?

If you look close no one is visible on deck and probably can't be on deck during that. That is millions of pounds of force at work there. I heard somewhere, probably on the Mighty Mo tour when I was like 6, that when ONE 16in gun goes off it is similar to 500lbs of TNT exploding. I am unsure if in that pic of the Iowa those are 16in guns, but it would be dangerous or deadly to be on deck during that shot.

Tsar Bomba?

I have a 340PD and you're right, it's absolutely brutal with 357 full-tilt-boogie loads. Even with 38 +Ps it's a handful. Great to carry, sucks to shoot.

Notice that the center gun in the aft turret hasn't recoiled. It appears that it hasn't fired.

If you look closely at the open bridge above the closed one, you'll see what appears to be people there. However, there is nobody on the starboard side facing the guns. The guns are 16"/50 caliber, which means that the barrels are 50 calibers long.

I've been on deck during the firing of 5" and 6" guns, and there was a pretty good thump from the muzzle blast, but nothing that would incapacitate anyone. During WWII, there were always men in open 20 and 40mm antiaircraft mounts, and it must have been unpleasant when the big guns were fired, but there was not enough concussion to cause injury.

I have a 360PD, and before I ever fired it, I installed a pair of larger Lasergrips. The boot grips the guns come with are ridiculously small. It still stings, but it's controllable.

No

I was trying some different factory ammo last weekend and it just won't cycle properly. One more adjustment to try before I ship it off to NH.

As an aside, Doc brought out his trusty $100 side by side 12 ga. and started throwing some clays. I asked to try it and proceeded to hit 10 in a row. "You aren't supposed to break them all"! he yells at me

Slush puppie compared to a 340PD. Had a Super Black for years and shot it rapid fire with one hand all the time.

What exactly you call rapid fire with a single action revolver

Anyway, I was not comparing. It just seemed like a good time to post the pic. I'll go back to my cave now.

I'm not looking a HD gun, just a fun all around (including HD:)). Already have a 12ga slugger for hunting and medium/long range.

IYO which/why?

thanks in advance.

And the winner was...........!!

Mossberg 590A1
I couldn't be any happier, even though I haven't fire the gun yet (got it today)
This thing is HUGE.. and sound very scary, even w/o shooting it!

also got this "little" H&R,
this one is actually very small in size, BUT with 45-70 ammo, in this case the size won't water!!
