I built up this Reminton 700 Varmint rifle in .22-250 last year. It's got a Leupold VariX-III 6-20x scope and a 10oz Jewell trigger along with some other accuracy mods.

Lots of fun to shoot but with that trigger, you have to be careful........you blink and that bullet's heading downrange

Relax, you are consumed with 2nd Amendment Fever. Buy many guns and shoot them with copious amounts of pleasure. Join a local club (no Bert's ) and shoot competitively amongst good people that you can actually trust to watch your guns as you make a stop at the latrine. In other words experience Americana to it's fullest my friend.

BTW, when you book the annual ADV Javelina hunt please contact me well in advance.

I've always been interested in competitive shooting.

However, I've no experience with anything bigger than .177+air and I probably shouldn't be allowed to own anything bigger.

They are all the same as an air gun. Just don't shoot yourself or anybody else and all is well.
