Come to think of it, there's at least five guns in the safe I have never gotten around to shooting, a couple of which are 20+ years old at this point. I have some serious kind of mental problem.
Well if the weather stays warm I think you should bring them up to my place so we can give them some range time. Nothing says' road trip like free time on a private range, right? besides weren't you just in Columbus?

I feel better about myself now. I have a rifle a buddy keeps trying to buy from me. I keep telling him I can't sell it to him because I have not shot it yet. I have to at least shoot it first.

Matt, you must have a far bigger safe than I do.

Also, I agree with you, guns are for buying, not selling.

(Especially here.)

That there is the solution to my problem. I'm just going to add another safe!

I've got three, but all were relatively inexpensive. I just bought a Winchester from Costco that was a good value, but I wouldn't give it top marks for security.

I'm very aware of how easy it is to defeat an inexpensive safe. I shopped the high end stuff and was really tempted, but that's the way it is for now.

When I do go high-end, it's Fort Knox hands down.

I'll look at the Fort Knox when I'm done working (blocked due to Gun content )
So I'll check those out, I've also looked at Liberty but have heard mixed reviews with regards to actual security of the safes. The other ones I've look at are Patriot Safes. They have a 24 gun that looks BEEFY for under 2 grand delivered right now.

Look around at locksmith shops that sell real safes. Bargains in used ones can be found. I have a 6 foot tall 2 door York, and a friend has a 6 foot square 2 door Mosler. We bought them at auction when some businesses were liquidated. You'll have to get riggers to move them, but nobody's going to open them like a sardine can like most of the gun safes.

This. I was a little disheartened after doing further research after dropping $2200 on a safe and seeing how little of a difference it was over the two $800 safes it replaced. My next safe will be another $800ish price range one. That's good enough that a couple crack heads aren't going to carry it away or open it with a prybar. Even the higher end safes they sell in most gun shops can be hacked in to within a few minutes using a side angle grinder, and don't really provide good enough fire temp. protection that the guns inside won't be considered too risky to continue to use.

So what do you guys recommend for a pistol light? I see Surefire and Streamlight are fairly common but I don't have any experience with either.

Is one more robust than the other? Is the strobe feature necessary? Any info or experience would be appreciated. Oh and I will be rotating it between different guns but I can't imagine that being an issue. Thanks.

Surefire is pretty much the standard. Although the Streamlight is comparable, not as rugged but a lot cheaper.
