Mission accomplished for $120 under MSRP.

Now to get new grips, top rail and red dot scope.

Paper targets. Shot a jackrabbit once...bullet went right through, he did a half dozen somersaults, then he got up and kept running.

A Circassian-stocked Ruger Model 77 I purchased in 1976. It shoots 1-inch groups at 100 yards. If I get around to it I'll post a photo.

Need Help W/Rifle

My wife asked me what I want for my birthday, several months away. Almost immediately I said "RIFLE." I don't know why I said it, but it sure sounded good. So, she said, what rifle? Then I started thinking, what do I need. Nothing. Then I started thinking, what do I want...and now I can't stop thinking. I'm not a bolt-gun fan. I haven't found a semi-auto I like. Can you all help?

I've owned bolt-guns (.300 Win-Mag, etc) and semis (AR, etc); more than owned them, I've shot them more than I want in more calibers than I can count.

I really like lever-guns. I've got them in .22, .44, and 45-70. I could really like a Marlin Cowboy in 45-70, or maybe a Ruger No. 1 with nice wood.

I really like shotguns, doubles. It's my understanding G*d shoots a SxS.

My budget is probably in the $5,000 range. Whatever it is, it has to have nice wood. Maybe even a semi-custom, or an off-the-shelf with custom wood or engraving? What say the collective wisdom of this motorcycle forum?

5k can buy lots of things. If it was me, I'd be going after a bullpup rifle or shotgun, or something that shoots a .50 BMG, or a .388 lapua.

But then again I'm not a fan of wood or the purdy stuff that is more to look at than shoot.

Sounds like you should get a M1.

I really don't know why, but I just ordered one of these...other then a giggle factor and a total waste of ammo, any general thoughts on it.
