I imagine that the HiPoint is a lot lighter as well.
This guy? Build it is correct if that's the case.

The I LOVE THIS GUN Thread

I have a hi point 45acp pistol and their customer service is impeccable. I bought the gun used and the sear spring was shot. I called their customer support and they sent me all new replacement springs and a redesigned firing pin me mechanism, no questions asked. Had it in 3-4 days from when I called.

It was my first handgun purchase and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one as a truck gun or nightstand gun. There is some YouTube videos doing torture tests on them and it takes a cast iron skillet to destroy it.

I called Hi-point to order another. They asked if I wanted to upgrade to the TS style stock. I thought about it for a Bit and said sure but I also wanted to order a original style stock. They sent me a the new style stock with everything and a original style stock for $40.... Plus they sent some springs and firing pin and a new mag all for $40.

Yes $40.

After that I was sold on them. The wife has the 995 with the ts and I ordered a new hi-point carbine in 40 s&w.. Friggen love it. They are ugly as sin but run and run and are very accurate once dialed in which didn't take much at all.

Just can't beat em for price!
True story here. It might be for publicity, but so far I've never heard of beemiller giving anyone bad service.

Don't know but as many have observed our good man Hickock45 has never met a gun he didn't like. But if I remember the gun busts the firing pin in the video. I remember when I looked into getting one I looked at the pricing online and then called them as I could not get a response via email for several days. 1. I was told they would not honor the price they had online ($750) because they were raising the price to about $899 and the web person had not updated their site. 2. I was told they had to receive my money before they even would take a FFL information. 3. They said they had not responded to emails because their sales guy was on vacation. From there the BS got deep and stank so bad I never wanted to deal with thureon again. I could just imagine the " customer service these guys would provide if I had an issue since they were so interested in selling me their POS carbine.

i have a CX4 Storm in 9mm that I really like. It's not for everybody, but it performs flawlessly for me.

Put a red dot on it that I probably don't need. It shoots great.

That is the first time I've ever heard "fun" and Hi-Point" combined.

Barrel question.

will a barrel for 7.62x59 shot 308 better than a barrel for 308 only?

and an 18" bull barrel be accurate enough for hunting withing up to 300-400 yards?
(deer)

thanks in advance.

Why not? I used the same word to describe it when I first mentioned it. Put a red dot on it (We have a Bushnell Trophy) and it's a heck of a fun plinker. Everybody loves shooting ours.

Not entirely sure I understand the question. I assume you are referring to .308 diameter bullets, and not to the 308 cartridge. Trying to fire the latter in a Mosin would either not work, or, if it did, would be inadvisable at best, catastrophic at worst.

As for bullet diameters, I believe that the Mosin and the 7.62x54R uses a .308 diameter bore, so that diameter ought to work. I'm sure there are guys on here who know more about Mosins than I do, so perhaps they'll chime in to let me know whether I am right or wrong.

Whether any gun is accurate enough for hunting deer at long range totally depends on the gun, the load, and the skill of the rifleman. I personally would not attempt to shoot a deer at that range, too many variables and the idea of wounding an animal is unacceptable to me. Lots of guys have done so, but while most would never admit it, I'm guessing that more animals are crippled than killed by such (IMHO) misguided efforts.

sorry, 7.62x51 / .308 win.

I'm asking because I know that 556 barrels can shot 223 but 223 barrels can't shot 556.

Wonder if the same gos for 7.62x51, and also if that makes the barrel more accurate with 308.

Ah, got it! Yes, you're good. Now that I read your original post again I see that you said 7.62x59, not 54 or 51, so we both got our brains scrambled a bit there!

I consider the 308 to be the best all-around deer round in existence. My personal-opinion comments about shooting critters at that range still apply, caliber does not really matter......although, obviously, some guns and calibers have more reach than others.

Regarding the whole 223/556 conundrum, I have fired 556 rated ammo in 223 chambered guns with absolutely no ill effect. In addition, I have not heard any such differentiation with respect to the 7.62/308 round, believe that they are one-and-the-same.

thanks, that 556/223 - 223/556 may be just a myth! :)

agreed about 308 being a great caliber, last year I got a deer at 200 yards with a Hornady Whitetail 165gr. and it didn't even move from the spot. Lucy shot maybe, but still gos to show what an awesome caliber it is.

They are different, but you can usually use them interchangably.
