1911 in 9mm?

Any thoughts on a compact 1911 in 9mm? I'd like a 1911, but I like cheaper (and more readily available) 9mm ammo, and everything I've read says the 1911's have virtually no recoil when chambered for 9mm. Also a nice, slim profile. Kimber makes a bunch of them with compact 3" barrels that are pretty nice looking and would make a good carry gun.

Nothing wrong with them at all. One of my best shooting buddies has an original Colt Officers model in 9mm, from what I hear very rare.

If I am not mistaken, only the Artillery model like his has the thing you are calling an adjustable sight but it is actually a rangeing sight, not a typical adjustable sight.

This is what the wife wants. She fondled an STI last year and loved it.

475 was their proprietary cartridge - but also chambered for 45 mag and I also think 9mm mag at one time. Also shows 44 automag

My big bruiser for the backcountry. 5 rounds of .44 magnum.

Comes in handy for mosquitos when picking flowers in Montana.
