Way too organized and structured for ADVRider. especially the Ohio folks.

Wandered into Dicks sporting goods tonight and they're selling Mossberg 500s for $50-$100 cheaper than the list price (and same amount cheaper than the best P22 prices that I've seen). Ammo was cheap and plentiful too.

My wife also told me I'm the most expensive high maintenance person she's ever known.

"Well, my 1911/Hi-Power/P9/Walther/S&W/HK/Steyr/whatever never has jammed."
"Yeah, well your 1911 costs three times as much as my Glock ..."
And so forth.

I hopped on the Glock bandwagon early, after reading a review in Soldier of Fortune, of all places.
We're used to them now, of course, but if you weren't around prior to the introduction of the Glock G17, you may not realize how revolutionary the Glock was at the time. Polymer frames had been used before but never to this extent. Autos usually were festooned with every manner of safety levers and buttons ... the Glock's safety was on the damned trigger (and two more internally).
I bought an early G17 since I've always been a "form follows function" guy and everything I'd read about the "plastic pistol" and its ability to function was glowing.
I wasn't disappointed and have bought several since in various calibers and sizes.
I have to say if I had to pick one, I'd take this one ... the G36.

It's compact.
It's lightweight.
Recoil is very manageable.
It's got a 6+1 capacity in .45ACP.
It happens to be my favorite Glock, aside from maybe the G19.

But it's the Bastard Child of the Glock lineup.
Some claim it jams more often than it functions. That it kicks too hard. That it doesn't extract cartridges, that it's really ammo-sensitive, that it's essentially a P.O.S.
Mine works. All the time. Every time. With anything fed through it.
So I guess my bastard child is gonna stick around awhile longer.
Nice gun for a girl.

As the king of riderland, would you please put together an official adv group shooting get together so we can all swap and try some of these different guns?
I started with a S&W Model 66 and a 1911, I switched to GLOCKs, then it has been a love/hate relationship with 1911's for the past 10 years. The constant is the GLOCK next to my bed and on my hip. I prefer to compete with heavily modded 1911's and 2011's- but I trust my life to GLOCK.

If you ever make it out to Las Vegas, PM me. I am out at the range all the time and I have lots of toys.

I stopped counting the rounds through my Glock 34 at about 6500. It has run all sort of the cheapest ammo I could find that I could shoot IDPA with. It has NEVER failed to fire or failed to feed, or failed to eject properly. Ever.
I also own a 19 that was stolen, dried up in a mud puddle for six months, recovered, cleaned, and shoots like it's longer sibling. Not a single misfire or misfeed. No corrosion, or other ill effects from the cocoon of dirt.

I don't think they are ugly either.

I love this analogy- but it needs to be taken to the final step. The Hot girls are always the most temperamental and high maintenance- which is why I never stuck with them. Give me practical, reliable, drama free and fun- in my women and in my guns. I don't need no show ponies.

So is it the OAL that makes it a long/long rifle?
