First tim shooter and now hooked!

First time shooter here, I guess you can't edit your thread title, oh well.
I picked up a tan Para 1911 with etchings of 82nd Airborn and Afganistan. I'm holding on to it because my pops got stationed to Kuwait, but from what he told me, this gun is not sold to the public. It is a nice gun but its too much for this newb. My groupings suck, in fact, I almost missed the target due to anticipation! Anyways, I'm hooked, but I want to start small because the .45 auto is burning holes in my wallet, and it is embarrassing going to the shooting range with a man gun and barely shooting my target....

My current wish list,

walther p22 for plinking and working on form.

Kriss Super V: the company is based in Va Beach so It is easy for me to shoot. The thing had NO recoil!

I've never shot anything in my life so this gun is a handful for me. My groupings suck, in fact, I almost missed the target due to me anticipating the recoil! Anyways, I'm hooked, but I want to start small because the .45 auto is burning holes in my wallet.

What a blast to shoot!

We shot both .410 and .45 with impressive results, he bought it as a personal carry weapon.
I was pondering one a those, but the Box-o-truth kinda changed my mind.

I got the Warlock from my local FFL/SOT guy. It was about $200 IIRC. It's fun as hell.

How about a Springfield Armory GI.45 as the base and modify it as necessary? Also the 1911Forum is a wealth of information.

Use these guys...

http://www.caspianarms.com/

Every now and then they have over runs for very good prices. I've built 4 so far with their frames and receivers and have been nothing but satisfied, getting the money together for a fifth.

As you might guess from my choice of motorcycles, my tastes run to...older firearms. An M1861,and an M1863 Springfield, plus a .36 Manhattan revolver.

For the cornfed side, an M1853 Enfield, and an m1854 Austrian Lorenz.
