I'm sure it's been mentioned in the pistol/rifle of same caliber thread, as they had a nice FN rifle chambered the same, with a 50-round mag. I neglected to ask the price.

Cool gun, fun to shoot. I haven't seen one on a store shelf lately, but recall that they were priced around $1100 a year or so back. The ammo comes in boxes of 50 at about $20, give or take, so fairly reasonable compared to what you'd pay for practice 9mm, 38, 40, or 45. I think handloading it would be a PITA, however.

Slightly sinister note, I believe that the Five-seveN is the gun used by Nidal Hassan in the Fort Hood shooting.

I believe you're right about the Fort Hood shooting. Yes, $20/50 rounds is what the store had as well. Given the price of other ammo now, I wouldn't call it expensive. Hard to find maybe. Case price would certainly be better. This same place had .357sig in bulk, $100/250 rounds. That is a lot better than I've seen in a while. Anyway, no more expensive than that. Cheaper than the last .45 I bought.

I would really like to shoot one.

After many years of being without a 226, one came home with me today,

Older West German Nickle p226 9mm. Came with an original box, test target, instruction manual and extra set of factory grips. I love it. It basically cost me a Ruger sr9c and $50.

The FiveSeven handgun is a defensive handgun not particularly well suited for shooting small game at distance. However, there is a company that makes a more precise handgun chambered for 5.7x28:

I spent yesterday trying to find a holster for mine. The rails make it difficult as several I tried that fit the P226 with rails, did not...

Dude... Quit shopping at Scheels and go to a pawn shop! Hell, Gander Mountain in CR by Westdale Mall would be a better bet.

Beautiful, I think the non-railed models are the best looking.

Scheel's is basically the only game in Iowa City right now I know it's not super cheap, but when you figure in a drive to somewhere else plus the 3% everybody wants to charge you if you don't bring cash it isn't that bad. I've never been real keen on pawn shops either.

I had some free time this week and last, so I thought I'd take apart my P-38 and do a 3-D model of it in Solidworks 2010. All the parts are finished and the assembly is about 75% complete. The final stage will be applying different colors to each component to make them read a bit clearer.
