I think just about anything would be better Ruger says a 10/22 weighs 5 pounds, but I think the Pak-rifle is pretty close to useless. "Hey look, a rabbit!". By the time you have the thing out of your pack and assembled the critter will have taken off. Or even better, you miss

No chance of squeezing out another shot either, because you'll have to disassemble the rifle to load a single round. And by the time you assemble the fishing rod, the fish will have died out or moved to another stream.

Jesus Christ. Was on the fishing rod website, look at the customer pics. These assholes are shooting mountain lions with it.
I won't get into how I feel about hunting alpha predators unless absolutely necessary, but with a .22? That's poor. Really poor.

They deserve to be beaten with it, but it doesn't look sturdy enough for them to learn any sort of lesson. Maybe jab them with the optional fish hook.

Man that pisses me off.

Asides from the poor sportsmanship, who in their right mind lets a 12 year old kid go after a mountain lion with a single shot 22?

Someone tired of being a parent?

I'd at least take a bean flip and a pointy stick.

Aside from the kid, I was rootin' for the mountain lion. Take a chunk outta Pa and Cuzin Cletus's ass. Put them in the hospital and give 'em time to read a hunter ethics book, if they can read.

Fuckwits like this will get their kids killed or hurt, when it hits the paper, "somebody" has to do something, and voila... a nice purge of all the alpha predators in the area.

This is pretty much the case with any take down rifle, the Marlin Papoose, the M6 Scout, the AR-7 or even a 10/22 with a take-down kit.

Those are options. I would strongly recommend you don't get the Muzzlelite bullpup stock, it is a total POS.

Both the Ruger and the Marlin are going to weight quite a bit more and take up a lot more room. You pays your money and makes your choices. To each their own. This seemed like a really compact lightweight little rifle.

My personal Nod would go to the Browning Semi-Auto .22, they offered it in stainless/laminant.

These take down nicely, with just a sliding lever and a 90 degree twist of the barrel. They hold ~11 rounds iirc in the stock, I believe you could keep the stock loaded with ammo, never tried it personally, but I don't think there is anything that would prevent this.

Have to deal with folder sights, but that's not the biggest detractor in a pack rifle.

This is what I was really thinking... 3 or 4" and that gun would've left with me. 2 & 1/2" is tempting, but we'll see if it's still there when I go back

Also, I am betting this little gun (which is 3.5 pounds lighter than an M6) is probably more accurate than the M6, looks to take up much less space. There seems to be a way to convert it to a fishing pole too.

The website sucks. It has very little info. But still, very interesting little rifle that might be ideal for back-country motorcycling.

it is a 'twist open' reload single shot.
Prices on the M6 Scout are starting to do the same thing that P7's were doing a ways back, on auction sites SS 22lr/410's are busting $1,000 regularly with some NIB examples hitting $1,500. Private sale prices are catching up fast on local forums, around here they have been popping up around the $700-$900 range and are usually gone in a matter of hours. They are already about 50% of actual issued USAF SBR M6's, if they keep going they should push that up even higher.
