I made a shim out of a feeler gauge and put it in on the crane. 4" Colt Police Positive Special. I still miss that gun. Royal Hong Kong Police surplus.

I had a police positive in .38 "short"

Miss that gun ... what an easy thing to shoot.

You are falling into that
Depends on the situation. I'm not really into high-end 1911s so that might be moot From what I've read Taurus already has a spotty reputation, and I'm not really interested in DIY gunsmithing right now. I'd rather just buy it and have it work.

I have an R100RT in boxes that may be coming up for sale, one piece at a time. That'd break him in right.

Back on track: Taurus is much improved. The thinking man's S&W.

Nope. if I want a bit more than the LCP, I have an STI LS9. I'd say the LC9 is about the same as it. There's other options out there already. I don't see the LC9 breaking in to new territory.

Ask SniperX about the action on my .44

Is better than most s&w that were laying around in the same case

Every Taurus product I've ever handled has had a problem of some kind.

I won't buy one. Evar

I can say that 90% of what you hear about Taurus is total bullshit or such a minute number compared to the millions of guns they sell, that S&W and Colt both have as many or more bad guns out there. I can say also that every Taurus I have ever had was stellar and shot and felt as go0od as any other manufacturer....sure the prestige wasn't there compared to a smithy or colt, but for something to carry and trust my life to, the Taurus's that I have had were up to the task.

Not only the nice trigger group, but the lock up on that thing is killer....

So it can be gone for a month waiting for it to come back? In the horror stories I've heard they still have problems...

I'm aware that not all of them have problems, but like Cody sez I've had one that had issues and that was enough.

No, it has to be rifled if the barrel is less than 18 inches - otherwise it is a 'sawed off' shotgun and you have to go through the NFA hassle and pay the tax.

There used to be handguns with short smoothbores, Marble's Game Getters and such IIRC, but you can't make new ones.

Taurus is bad about checking their cylinder gaps from the factory. I don't know why - it takes less than 30 seconds to check it.

Some are fine, some are way too tight and bind after some shooting (cleaning it removes the debris and you can shoot it again). I am not surprised it didn't take long for a .22 - they are especially dirty.

They have a 'lifetime' warranty so just send it back.
