I've got a SA Compact, with Crimson Trace grips. My second most carried pistol, after the Kahr CW 40.
Been shooting 1911s since I was about five.

I heard they're made in Ilion NY. Not sure if that's assembled or fully made.

Seems like a 1911 for those that just want a 1911 for giggles. That would be people like me.

Not bad atall. From the looks of it, it is a pretty GI. Do they (didn't read the site) say it is made in the USA?

List of 699 means a pick up price of about $500.00.

I usually see prices of guns around 20% off list at places like Sporstmans Warehouse or some of the shops I use. So am guessing. Of course it'll be closer to list at first.....

I like the looks of it. Doesn't look like anything fancy, but tricked/blinged out 1911s seem besides the point to me anyways.

Good thing is, you can always trick it out for another couple hunskee and have a great shooter. I just called my local 1911 guy and he said go buy an ambi safety off the net and I'll install it for 15 clams.....

If I had one of those prettied up guns I'd be afraid to take it out.

1911's need to be shooters.

My two favorite 1911s. I've posted these pics before but since people are talkin' about and posting pics of their 1911s, I thought I'd join the party.

The Springfield Armory EMP is a 9x19, and it is my "winter" carry-gun, rides in an IWB strong-side holster and conceals nicely under a coat or sport-jacket, which is what I'm wearing 90% of the time when away from home.

The Baer Custom is a 6" long-slide. I bought it in '96 and used it for a couple of years in USPSA/IPSC matches......until, one day, after dozens of matches and even a couple o' trophies, some RO tumbled to the fact that it didn't fit in the IPSC box!! A 5" was fine but the 6" was a teensy bit too long. There were some red faces about that, my own included. Still, the gun was, and is, an amazing shooter. While it might be fancy, I love it and shoot it a lot, just not in IPSC matches anymore. I'd say that it has roughly 7500 rounds through it, and is still as nice as the day I bought it.
