this is one i just gave to my eight year old daughter as her first gun. rimfire technologies adjustable sear and hammer. also the full width drop in trigger, charging handle and bolt buffer. the larger charging handle makes it a lot easier for her to cycle and she dids the blue bits. the hammer and sear are a pretty simple do it yerself drop in kinda thing. shoots well enough to break blue rock at 25 yards and thats all it takes to keep her happy.

I like this.

I think this is the route I am going. Gonna try to find me a new tactical model and put a cheap(ish) scope on it, then do a trigger job and call it good.
thanks all.

Kevin's Komprehensive Mosin pictorial

After researching every piece of my Mosin, which was a ton of fun I might ad! I have found not only does mine have all matching numbers but it was 99.9% Issued during 1942! i read that almost all Nagants were probably issued if dated before 1944 and mine was 1942.

My receiver has this marking, it is from Izhevsk, mine is dated 1942. However, all my markings look like this except for the date. .

My stock looks like this one which is also period correct as a wartime stock.'

Close ups of a wartime stock sling holes as mine are.
front
rear

My nose cap is this one, early WWII

My receiver is this one, it is called the high wall receiver 1941~1945 at Izhevsk

here's my front sight, it is the correct one for a wartime rifle,

And my rear Sight with two pins in it is this one which also dates it correctly.

And the barrel (split) band,

Plus all my serial numbers from buttplate to receiver all match. It isn't any wonder why this rifle shoots like it does and has a good trigger!

this is my rifle there are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me.

Mosin's are great fun, the history behind the rifle, learning where they where, where they went....they are all unique. If you get a chance look into the pistols as well, they are great fun to research. I have a pistol dated 1922...I just wonder how many anti-Stalin people that thing saw.

Some Mosin's are quite unique, US made examples are some that I am looking for at the moment and tend to go for more then the $79.95 that some think they are all worth.

Many people put down the Mosin as one of the most backward rifles in WWII, but it was a great rifle with a long life span. You have to remember that it was the USSR and it was a peasant army....one of the reasons the SVT did not do very well...the average russian could not take care of it.

I have an example of every main battle rifle from every combatant in WWII and none of them are bad rifles...they are all about equal execpt for the garand. Putting that rifle in every US soldiers hands was a HUGE advantage.

I bought a Mosin Nagant maybe 2 or 3 years ago for $79 from Sarco. I want to like it, but I just can't warm up to it. Each time I go to the range, I look at it and say "I'll take you next time" but still haven't. Not worth selling, So I'll just hang onto it. I guess it will be good to have when the zombie Cossacks begin their reign of terror.

It is just your basic bolt action rifle. If you take the names away from Springfield, Enfield, Arisaka, carcano...they all shoot about the same, where the difference lies is in what you think about the rifle. Truth be known the one I like the best is my Krag...but that is of a different era.

It is a basic bolt action rifle that looks like it was machined with a stone hatchet. The bolt action on my '03 Springfield and '96 Mauser are buttery smooth and beautiful works of art in comparison.

How 'bout some pics of the Krag?
