I've always done better trading at shows than cash. Also check out other traders are walking around with. you can make some good side deals.
That's kinda the thing, I can't look at the advantages of any one gun and say that it's the best for me. I'll go there, if something speaks to me maybe I'll pick it up. I think the best odds are that I won't buy anything, but I don't really have anything better to do tomorrow

I hear a good smith like ted yost has over 100 hours inot a complete top endy 1911 of hand fitting and finishing.
Handfitting brings visible results on long guns. The prices Surgeon and GA Precision rifles bring are evidence of that. And their capabilities show. But on a handgun? I don't see the advantages when a $5K handgun is no more accurate than a $1500 one. Seems more like people are willing to pay for the name and bragging rights than anything else. Yost must have learned something from the H&K marketing dept.

thats what you aren't getting, the thing isn't necessarliy accuracy, although that does make a difference. The things are exclusivity of having one of one hand built masterpeice, and having something to your order or something that if you could design it it wold be what you designed, AND having something by a artist who works in the medium of steel and builds something very special. Look at it this way, using your logic, why would ANYONE pay 7K for a Rolex, when the same accuracy or BETTER can be had from buying a Seiko for 300 clams?

Basically, you are paying for cachet and bragging rights.... which is why I own GLOCKS and a Citizen watch..... I have to admit though, there is a special feeling when I spank the pants off some guy with a $3,000 1911 in a match using a plain-jane GLOCK.

I have no qualms with spending big money on guns, but they tend to be 100+ year old shotguns.

Well I didn't buy anything. I was tempted by a 4" stainless GP100 for $450, but they didn't appear to be haggling. Another one that caught my eye was a shiny new stainless Blackhawk in 357 for $475, but I think I've decided that the GP100 is what I want. That being said, after going to the gun show and not liking the prices enough I have decided that the Playstation is now my best bet
