I saw a couple Rock River Arms yesterday NIB for 620.00. I have ZERO experience with them though...

You can't go wrong with a Springfield.

I saw a brand new one of those in a local shop a couple of weeks back. I wasn't even aware that they were still in production. It had a fairly dull matte blueing on it, wasn't as pretty as the old ones, and also had black plastic grips. Still, it looked like a nice gun. Price tag was $600something. I've got three decent 9mms and don't need another, but if I were in the market for one I'd sure consider that, the feel of it is just right!

Well, depending one what model you are into, whether it be a GI type like that blingy 1911 shown, or a factory already done one, I also suggest a Springfield Armory LOADED or GI depending on which way you like them. Good thing about a Loaded is it already has all the cool stuff done ata fraction of what it costs even for the parts to make a GI into a loaded,. Or a nice Kimber if money allows it. BTW the remington being brand new is not something I would buy yet.....now the SA Rangemaster....yes.

Which model? that sounds high to me. I see them for under 550 with beaver tail hammer trigger and ambi safeties already fromt he factory, called the tactical model.

I just took another look at those. The new Range Officer doesn't look so bad.

SniperX's 1911 primer

OK, here is a pic of the two MAIN types of builds ona 1911, top one is a Springfiled loaded (early pre ambi safety) and the second is my RIA GI. Notice the different parts, SIGHTS, trigger, hammer, beavertail, extended safety, etc. ALSO on a loaded, they normally have a factory installed match barrel and bushing too. MAIN differences in the two are as mentioned, GI is standard old school type issued to US Troops for a long long time.

Kinda like a SA Loaded

See differences in this and mine in the above pic.

I think that's the Mark III.. they still make a "Standard".

That would be cool, but I don't like the feel of the wider frame on a 1911, which is the only reason I never got a hi cap 1911. Kinda like how I hated the LDA trigger on my LDA.45
