Hi my name is Brian and Im an BRP addict. Really Id give up the wife and kid for this bike, sick I know. I work as a BMW parts bitch at an awesome car dealership, and turn wrenches on bikes and atvs in the spare time hoping someday to have my own shop. I bought my pig as a leftover in 03 (its an 02). I have forever been upgrading it since day one, recently plating it in febuary of this year and had to have been the absolute best thing done so far. I have added moose bark busters, IMS 4.3 natural tank, Acerbis 6.3 sahara, Renthal CR high bars, Baja Designs skip plate, BD ds kit, BD speedo, UNI airfilter, Braking wave rotors and pads front and rear, black Pro Wheel rims (I laced them), Renthal black rear sprocket (stock gearing), Tusk gold o-ring chain, BD single 8" halogen, stock suspension, Devol rad guards powder coated black (worked at pc shop), Dirt bagz, SDG tall firm seat, Tusk rear fender bag, IMS pro series pegs, Tugger seat strap, Edlebrock carb (after 3 years of offroading the stocker was giving me issues), remounted and rewired everything from behind headlight to under seat, and so much more I can do. Dam I love this bike and I love riding the rocky nargly trails of PA

well....we have to put that on...since its street legal...to really make it so street legal, abit of decency...if not...when the pigs in white stop you at the highway or street, its $70 fine...so,$70 fine for wanting to have a bike looking more kewl without that license plate up front,or looking like not very kewl with that on,and stay invinsible from the cops during the weekdays commuting..

So,that's the choices i've got...gotta stay wiser...

anyways...as i said...its the very first day i collected it from the showroom...so,the bike have gone to the inspection centre before it's hand over to me...

Tuning an FCR 41 for the XR650R?

Does anyone have any starting points for the FCR41 on the XRR? I ran across one I couldn't pass up and I wanted to try to tune it? I fiddle with things by nature and I never followed the rule "if it ain't broke don't fix it!" so I'm taking a perfect running bike which I have an edelbrock for (had to order a replacement check needle for the bowl, so the stocker is on it now). I'll pull out the FCR and dissasemble it and see what jets it has now. and get back to you. (hopefully tonight) but I've never delt with an FCR before so I wanted to learn the ins and outs as well!

I hope ya'll can pass on some info!

I'm interested in FCR tuning info too. I jsut got a 40mm FCR off a 2005 CRF450 that I'm planning to put on the BRP. Might want to post to ThumperTalk too.

Ya'll might want to PM Xrider, after reading some of his posts, he seems to be quite the Carb mechanic.

Just to share what I have found (jets in my carb) as well as what a hand full of people from Thumpertalk passed along.

Mine:
(I haven't run it yet...so I'm not saying this is the proper set up but judging from others it may be off)
170 Main Jet
200 Main Air Jet
55 Pilot
EMP needle clip= 4th from top or bottom (of 8)

Pikkos from TT:
182-185 Main jet
200 Main Air
100 Slow Air jet
48 Pilot

XRManu from TT: (track and 680kit)
178-182 Main jet
50 Pilot
Needle 2nd from top

Hulkman from TT:
184 Main jet
45 Pilot
needle 3rd clip

My local shop "says" they have a variety of jets on hand for when they tune the FCR41 on the Husqvarna's and that they'll take back ones I don't use so I will go and pick up; 178 180 182 185, and a pilot 45, 48, 50, 52?

in reading one source they speak of slow fuel jet, I'm not sure where this is?

Mine carb originally came from sudco and doesn't have choke or Hot start if that makes a difference but I don't see where a slow air jet is

Well this is what I have found...I'm going to reassemble my carb and see what else I can find!

Oh yea my mods:
Wisco piston 102.7 bore 10.5:1 compression
Stage 2 cam
1mm oversized intake and exhaust valves...
open airbox and big-gun header and race pipe.
Alt 300-400' msl
temp currently 40-50
humidity 60-80%

I had the edlebrock on it when needed rebuild and the shop put the stocker back on it...(he wouldn't guarntee his work with the edelbrock and its "unreliable fueling curve" but I assume even with the bore and head work its still the 175 main, 68s pilot, the B53E needle.

The FCR's are a fantastic range of carbs.
They are linear to jet as well and when they are right it's like a direct injection system.
No matter what it came from to a XR650r it's never that far off that you have to worry.
I couldn't afford an FCR so i went a 2nd hand TM40 and it's way better than the stocker.
WOT is actually quite an event.

Springs for BRP

Another question:

Should I go with progressive rate spring or straight?

Should I revalve or put springs in first and try it out?

If revalve does it really matter where I send them?

Went out yesterday, and bottomed front and back so many time, I had to look under side to see if I f&*#%$ anything up
