LOL.....I had to use "reserve" today on the way home. My reserve involves pulling over and laying the bike on it's side and getting the fuel from the left side of my Clarke tank

works great!

works great!
I run the sahara tank so no tilting required. My buddy runs the clarke. On our last Baja run we called it the secondary reserve. He was able to get most of it out. Probably as much as if he had another petcock.

Anyone know off the top of their head what size the bolts are that hold (held) the muffler on? Specifically the one that ties in near the subrframe and the one that is threaded into the stock muffler.

Also, my Clarke should be arriving on wed and I'll be installing it Friday night before a three day trip around the state. I'll also be finally uncorking the bike at the same time. Any tips to make things go smoother?

pretty sure thats a M8x1.25 bolt with a 10mm head, but you probably couldnt find one of the 10mm head bolts, probably end up with a 12 or 13mm head

what Im looking for is anyone with a V1 gpr steering stabilizer that fits above the handle bars, using stock bars and clamps, would love to see some photos and hear about if they are any good for the xr,

from the photos it looks like the oil fill would get in the way of the control rod to the stabilizer slot,am I wrong?

i know that on my undermount it makes it difficult to re-secure the oil dipstick. i've just learned to deal with it. the bike works so so well, it's a minor inconvinience to have to deal with. i just love the bike and the stabalizer!

alright guys for the last few days ive noticed the level in my coolant overflow bottle dropping and today i saw that its weeping out from the headgasket. there is no smoke from the exhaust and the oil wasnt cloudy of bubbly when i changed it yesterday and i when on a 80mile ride after that and the new oil is still crystal clear. so how bad is it to ride it for a few more days till i have time to fix it? its my daily ride. while i change the headgasket im goin to replace the cam chain also. for that do i have to pull anything below the headgasket off to get the chain off the lower gear or can i just slip it off and the new one on? im thinkin of doin a stage 1 cam at the same time as my autodecompressioner is acting up. how is the install on that? straight forward like replacing a stock cam or is there more to it than that?

Anyone know why my eddie carb is peeing fuel when leaned on the kickstand? Float level? How do I go about adjusting the float level if this is the problem? Thanks

Pull the carb off and adjust per the shop manual. Some of the options include float hieght, float, float needle.

no major problem to ride on a bit if you're sure about the coolant & oil. But do check if there's oil on top of the coolant, by taking the filler cap off when cold, and look.
When rebuilding put a thin smear of non-setting gasket-maker (use a proper brand!) on the outer circumference of the head-gasket - ie not around the actual cylinder-bore but just on the outline/outer perimeter (the coolant-jacket).
On the inner/cylinder side you may use a copper-based anti-seize smear, thin!, so that it won't stick but seal even better



I've got 2 Q's too:
- Anyone know about different gearbox ratio's existing for the Pig? A wider-ratio gearset I would not mind (lower first, same/higher top). Alternatively a 6-speed would be nice to have.
- Anyone know about a rear-brake pedal that has the actual foot-tip set lower? Mine's a bit highish, that's why. It (the height!) is not adjustable, and making this latter seems a lot of work.

You may already know this, but you can move the pedal down a smidge more by adjusting the screw and locknut between the rear master cylinder and the pedal.

It made it a little better for me. I'm 6'6" and my toes point down too much because my legs are bent more that the usual dude. Sucks to be big sometimes...
