After my first real ride on my new to me xrr, I know how that first space monkey felt taking off. Holy shit what a difference compared to my dr650. That is all.

Very funny. I've been looking for a plated BRP and just whn I gave up and decided to go with a 450x (because of the trail ability and e-start) my neighbor wants to sell me his XRR. Which bike is more reliable, better in woods, all around better bike?

What to do you want to hear from the XR650R thread?....Here are the facts...the XR650R is more reliable and less maintenance, its a heavier bike 290-310 depending on mods. If you are a woods rider you will be fine on it...if you are new to woods you'll want a lighter bike.

The XR650R is my only bike...if I had a 450X I'd ride it in the woods but it couldn't be my only bike with the dual sporting rides I do.

Take your neighbor riding and swap bikes then...you let us know.

I literally just walked in from purchasing a NEW hold over 05 XR650R

I couldnt be happier that I found this bike, I purchased a new 02 VTR1000 from the same dealer 2 years ago.

Anyway.. Im going to do a "build" thread on the mods and so forth. I fully intend to have it DS capable ASAP. ( like Im ready to order parts online right damn now ! LOL )

What a find! I was looking at a new '07 in CA, but I couldn't swing the cost of new + the drive to get it + the DS components. I went used '02 that was already plated instead. Where did you find this gem?

The shop is S&W in Jasper AL. They have another 05 650R that is used that got traded back into them. They only want 3195 I believe for it OUT THE DOOR. Its got some light scuff but its a very clean bike.

The are not a Honda dealer, but they buy up dealers old inventory. I got the original MSO from America Honda and all that. I love the place, like mentioned I have bought a new "old" bike from them before.

It will look retro...i will have 1 set of wheels with fresh knobbies, and the other a semi-offroad tyres for the road usage...

hmm...the pig still fun to play around with after 2yrs of having it...pig rulez...
This is probably a repost, but speaking of cool retro looks on the BRP check this out: http://www.vancouversupermoto.com/page.php?id=30

fmfq2, 14t cs sprocket, jetted I had the tm40 on it but seems to be a new game in town so the bst40 is back on it. The DR had way more power with the tm, but it just isn't a dirt bike. I had the intiminators also, but just sold them and went to a heavier fork oil. The DR will continue its road duty and most likely long range trips, but the xr is now on dirt duty.

Thanks, but it's going on the xrr soon. I can only imagine the difference it will make.

Alternative Source for rear disc brake?

So the '02 XRR I just got has a badly warped rear disc. Dealer pricing for a stock disc runs $120-$145. Aftermarket, what there is of it, runs about $100-$115. I have read on the TT site that a rear disc for a XR400 or a XL650 Transalp is a direct fit. Can anyone here confirm this? I have found both of these for under $100.
