Jimmy Lewis, who knows what he is talking about, says that speed is not the answer for sand. In fact, when it goes wrong, you are going to get very hurt.

With the correct technique, you can go as slow as you want and not drop a big bike. It's all about standing and steering with your ankles. And allowing the front wheel to "surf" or plane on the sand.

With the 950 SE, I can go like a tractor through the deep sand at VERY slow speeds. Low end torque, you know.

Speed will work up till you lose it. Then you crash at speed and break something, like your body or your bike. Ask the guy on the GS from last year's EXPLOR event. There's a great photo somewhere of his engine case, or what is left of it, and the tree!

The duck still there?

RedPower, is the duck still there?

Looks like you have exceeded the 72 hour rule, so you probably should drop the tag in a more accessible location.

Would hate to see this thread start hibernating for the winter, considering how exciting it's been!

I'm sure the duck is still there...if you are worried I can go check on your little ducky

Accessible there are 3 entrances to where the duck is. 2 are probably about a mile off of pavement. The third is the fun way

By accessible do you mean in your back yard? Do you have any dirt or all grass? PM me the Gps coords & I'll drop him where you can find him? I hope
YEAH RIGHT

I was actually thinking of others. You know, that magnanimous thing! The RedPower/Docgonzo TOR thing can get a little boring.

Was hoping someone else might get it if they didn't have to hike the Appalachian Trail!

It's not really a hike Think of it as having to get off the bike to stretch your legs for a few It's no further than having to walk from your car to a store.

If Haystack does not go and get it by Friday 5:00pm, I will get the duck & place him somewhere hopefully more ACCESSIBLE. (weather permitting)

No, we do have the honor system in this tag game. You definitely are supposed to go on your bike to get the tag. So a picture of the bike at the tag is not an option. Shawn, I sure hope you took a picture of your bike there in the snow. Riding a suburban up there doesn't count!

Although, Between the hill, the rocks, the wet leaves and the snow, Bevans Road is not very big bike friendly!

I passed this sign.

The hikers were out for 1 week and we both arrived at the same time.

It would be close to impossible to get a suburban there, even on a good day.

And.....If you can't trust me, then who can you trust
