Hilversum

Hi there,

I am Steve, from Hilversum. As you can read in mu signature, i have 3 bikes in my shed

A TT600R, that has been rebuild in the last months ... new piston, frame powdercoated, excell rims, new plastic (for the looks only), new seat cover. Great bike, i took it to Tunesia, Pyreneees, local rides. Will be used in the Alto Turia 2010.

a TT350, that it use for enduro's and KNMV offroad events. Great light bike, i bought it because the 600 was in pieces, and i wanted something cheap to ride. I will tear it apart next year during summer and give it some TLC

and an old XT250 that does not run (yet), it looks like this one. If the 350 has been done, i will try to get some live in this granny

See you around!!

Just seen this thread (so I've copied my BeNeLux reply), I'm a UK expat living near Rotterdam. I've been riding for 4 years now and enjoy road riding, track riding and touring.

I used to have a Suzuki SV which I sold to a mate before coming over to Holland. I've now a K6 GSXR 750, a great bike but pretty pointless here in Holland!

It's done over 220 laps of the Nurburgring this year, Spa, Zolder and Zandvoort trackdays and a 4700km + tour of the Alps:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508466

Any way I've bought a '93 Honda XR600R for winter fun around Zeeland and perhaps some off roading a little further afield (any suggestions in France/Belgium/Luxembourg/Germany?) once I get some knobblies for it.

A nice contrast to the GSXR!

BTW I've heard there are some places where you can ride enduro courses in the NL the day after the competition, anyone any links on these or other off road routes/rallies etc in/near Holland?

You can ride so called "KNMV off-road ritten",

Check out http://www.enduro.nl/kalender.htm. and look for "offroad"-events. You can go there, sign up (costs 25 euro for the KNMV (insurance) and about 20 euro for the organiser, and you can ride as much 40 - 60 km rounds as you like. Most start at around 9.00 last rider starts around 13.00. In some occasions you ride the same NK-endurocourse, only a day after (after the course has been torn up by the fast guys).
Your bike must be in good condition, roadlegal, not too oisy and mx-tires anr not allowed. Cheap offroad tires like Kenda Trackmasters or Michelin AC10's or endurotires are allowed.
Also, www.allroadmaniacs.nl is a good source for info.

i always order my tires at http://www.fittersmotoren.nl/ "mxbanden",
You have a great selection in tires. I purchased Michelin AC10's recently, for my TT350. These can be used in "off-road" events, but not in enduro, because FIM rules apply to enduro, and not to "off-road".

FIM Endurotires are allowed in both events (but these are a lot more expensive).
Also, if you have an KNMV "off-road" license, you are allowed to do 1 official enduro each season, as a "day-licensee", just to see if a competitive event is something you might like.

Hey, guys, any suggestions for a good, reputable used motorcycle dealer within an hour or so of Maastricht?

It's killing me not to have a bike here, but the cost and hassle of shipping over my GSA from the US is, well, large, and the thought of paying the prices the BMW dealer is asking for even used GS's is knee weakening.

I'm thinking maybe a gently used, well treated Weestrom? I've owned one before, really liked it, great value for the money.

Anyway, looking for suggestions.

See if you can buy in Germany (Aken), bikes are cheaper there, becasue of the Dutch BPM (Tax on cars and bikes)

But then where would I register the bike? I'm a legal resident of Maastricht. I presume if I register even a German-bought bike in NL, they are still going to make me pay the BPM (or all the MC dealers in NL would already be out of business).
