Now that the flys are pulled, two brothers exhaust, KBC filter, and power commander, the bandit is no where in sight of the c-14.
No he was not a clown but a very good rider and I can tell you this I CAN TAKE YOU ON YOUR C14. It's a huge over weight bike that just happens to have a big engine that's it.

And I will go on record with this, your 1200 is slow the 1250 is not, I owned two 1200's not the same bike as a 1250

But then again your one of those types that thinks he can out run GSX-R1000's on a friggin land yacht, I got one of those two and the C14 won't even be in the same time frame when I pull the trigger. I can prove it if you like since I am a man of my words. now come get you some of this on that touring bike

I hate that argument. A fast rider on a slow bike will be even faster on a fast bike.

That's a bit of good news. I loved the range on the old Connie but can't say I ever got better than 40mpg and usually quite a bit worse. 'Course I'd done the jetting thing which perked it right up and tended to wind the piss out of it. Sounds like a realistic and reliable 200 mile range is not out of the ballpark. What does two up do to the #'s???

If you over fill the tank (large air space you can slowly fill at the top of the tank), you can get more than 5.8 gallons.

I have had some very fast sections where I had 5.3 gallons and 203 miles. Some parts were done at 100+ MPH through Wyoming.

I wish it had the 7.5 gallon tank the old connie had, but it does OK. The fuel Injection helps with the MPG so it balances out.

I've been getting around 45 mpg with my C14. I usually stop and get gas every 3 hours, which is all my fat ass can take.

I rode down Skyline drive and Blue Ridge Parkway this past July and averaged 54 mpg along the length of those roads. My speed averaged 45-50 mph......

Just a quick google search for those of you that would like a little comparison. And I know the C-14 is not a full on race bike. But hey she is quick for a sport touring bike. If the gsxr rider is not careful, wrong gear or not paying close attention, he will have to play catch up, but that could be said about any bike right. The C-14 is a sleeper bike. Dumb asses on a sport bike see the saddle bags and think what ever, then the C-14 front tire is in the air at hwy speeds and is gone. The average sport bike rider usually know nothing of the C-14 and would never guess that it is a low 10 second bike. All liter plus bikes are fast, and a good rider is almost alway able to overcome a poor rider on a faster bike.

O did I mention that I am impressed that a guy wants to race me on a C-14 and him on a GSXR 1000. Wow he had to pull out the race bike and go on the record. wow I mean wow. So now we meet at the flag pole after school and do this right....right. Man you got me figured out over the internet. I sit typing hardly able to hold my urine. I am scared. Dam dude if it will make you feel better you can call one of my buds a clown. As I have a couple that are clowns, and hell I am a clown at times. Getting a giggle right now. I an sorry, I do not know your friend, so you have the right to take offense. I should not have insinuated that he was a clown or that you were slow. so let stop the hating and get back to kicking tires and telling lies. I will start. The C-14 will do 214 mph because I changed the rear sprocket.

2 up and carrying an extra 50# of necessities, makes no difference in the mileage that I have seen, carried the wife + stuff for over 5,000+ miles this last year, and it made no diff, fuel light comes on around 210, and ya have about 50 miles left before pushing it down the road.

Frankly, I really hated the distance capacity of my old Conni, especially when riding with a certain close freind, seeing as he wouldn't stop till he was on reserve.... that last hour was a killer.....

I don't know how you guys do long stints in the saddle like that. I'm ready for a break after an hour and half, just a simple stretch and pee break, then it feels good to get back on the bike, but if I push past 2 hours then I start to get stiff and the breaks take longer to shake the stiffness. Just an old geezer I guess. The only time I enjoy pushing past the 90 minute mark is when you're riding endless twisties, then I don't want to stop, but I think the adrenaline has something to do with that.

or should I just bring my dirtbike

How about Barber Motorsports March '09 with NESBA but of course you will have to get in "A" group (that might take you a year or two but I'm willing to wait) 1st since they will not let me ride down in beginner.

your turn I'm all

how much work was involved in changing the shaft-drive to chain drive on the C-14 ??? (or did I miss the joke???)

Great interest in the C14, lets get back on track and maybe get a pic or two of someone's Concours14 ???

I say bring what you want. Since you are the challenger, I get home track. I say we race from Lansing Mi, to the Paradise Mi. and back. I am good to go this weekend or next. I ride year round just like you. So bring it with your gloves. Sissy boy. Its time to ride. You do not know what a 140 is until you do it at 10 degrees. PM me your number lets set this up... I for one am ready to ride. Just got back from Caddilac only about 2 feet of snow. Just be easy in the corner and be ready to counter steer. It's only about 700 miles, maybe you should bring the gsxr 1000.

Don't be so sure! A new 1250 with the Holeshot Stage 1 and 2 is running 138HP and 98 ft lbs. Factor in the significant weight difference and you have a very close call.

a pissing match over who's bike is better isn't exactly what I had in mind when I started this thread.

Frankly, who cares if it's the fastest, or has the most hp? It's a damn fine bike, and more than fast enough for anyone who wants to use it for what it was designed for. Sport touring.

gtrpete is right.

Can we get this thread back on track, pls.?
