Yeah, it's unpaved...but my wife's Sportster made it. Come in from the Rt 28/Glen Creek Rd end, the Glen Athol Rd end is kinda ugly...

The lower end wasn't awful, but more loose gravel than this street oriented noob likes (especially when meeting opposing traffic).

The upper end was nice flat dirt/packed sand that ran along a picturesque creek and much more to my liking.

Yeah, I was figuring on a ride Saturday that would take me (from near Utica) past Sacandaga Lake up to Saranac Lake / Lake Placid ... camp next to Tail of the Pup BBQ joint ... just like last summer LOL. Interested in some riding & camping, David or anyone?

Just so everyone knows, there is no way to get there without riding dirt roads. The road is very easy going!

Wakely Pond, Cedar River Rd.

Summer's on...

Hey Ride Far, +1 for David's post. Also just put up some events going on in the SLP area over there too that may be of interest with the riding.

Since I will be spending a bunch of time in the Dacks this summer thought I'd play.
Funny thing is I stopped there last year for a break and photo as I was going to hike up wakely as part of my fire tower challenge.

Drop later or in the morning,

Alas, plans have changed, won't be camping next to Tail of the Pup this weekend after all, I'll be lucky to squeeze in 200 miles on Sunday. Good weekend everyone ~~

We'll be meeting up on Saturday the 21st in SL for a group ride if you make it back up this way. It'll be a good time of mixed roads with great scenery and lunch. Posts for it will be over in the Tug Hill/ Adk thread.

NYDEC MeadowBrook CG (next to TotP) does offer good access to food, fuel and town. If you'd like some choices for less urban CG's there are several in the area to choose from. PM if interested.
