Another thought - you say new points, but didya replace the condensor too? I've had these tricky little deceptively simple devices of capacitance make life miserable for me before. High RPM running issues, spark looks good but runs like shit, etc...

I really like my Neduro Dual Sport Mirrors.
I bought them last Winter and put a long hard season on them.
Highly recommend

You can flip 'em in with a twist of the wrist,
or just leave 'em loose enough to let the brush you go flying through do it for you.
Brush and branches won't break them, the ball joints just give.
But they don't stand a chance against pavement,....
so I just bought a second pair since I liked them so much
