Well I joined the Bandit club.....sort of. Found a great deal on an F model, so basically a Bandit with a fairing and different seat.

Loving the 650 engine, so smooth! And I was under the impression that a 600 class 4 cyl would be worthless below 5k RPM but with the efi it seems to pull from 2k without stumbling.

Don't lynch me because it doesn't say Bandit on the side

Good looking bike!

Does it have a smilar ride height as the bandit? It looks lower...

Also, are the footpegs in roughly the same position, or is it a more cramped "sport" posture?

As I've never sat on a Bandit I can't say with absolute certainty but in doing my research the pegs are in the exact same position. When sitting on it, it is certainly not an extreme peg position at all and with a 32" inseam I tend to notice such things.

The seat is a tad higher than the Bandit with it's dual height seat in the tall position. 31.6 for the F model 31.1 for the Bandit's high position.

However they are directly interchangeable. Bandit 650/1250 seats will fit GSX 650/1250F's and vice versa

Got sidetracked and the carb Assembly is on the work bench now... The inside of the carbs are spotless except for some light rust in the bottom of the bowls and the jets are not clogged. However, in carb #3 when I removed the diaphragm cover and needle I noticed that there was no spring or shim on the needle. The needle was just sliding back and forth inside the valve piston.

Well that's one more issue I can clear up that should improve performance but I'm still on the hunt for the first. I'll just rebuild the carbs/holeshot rejet and take it from there.

I had to replace my oil cooler with an aftermarket unit. I also had to make oil lines. I hooked it all back together and now its leaking at the banjos. I used new OEM crush washers, but the oil is leaking very badly from the banjos. Any clue what I may have done wrong??

Are those AN fittings? If so, are they metric or SAE. Measure it..ID(inside diameter) then order the correct crush washer. It's just a guess....hard to diagnose on the Internet n

After much discourse with many other riders, it may be that because I didn't use a torque wrench, I tightened the washers too much and therefore crushed the crush washers too much and apparently that makes it so they don't seal well.

Never mind. I actually hadn't tightened them enough. DOH!

Jimmy, I've got the liquid cooled 650 Bandit from '07. I think they added the fairing and the "F" the following year. Sat on an "F". I couldn't see a difference.

Yup mine is an 08, first year for the F model. When you get to decimal points in seat heights, not surprising you couldn't tell a difference. Certainly not a make it or break it difference.

One more question for the 650 owners. I gave my Dad a ride on it yesterday and it felt very very light in the front end. I'm 170 and he's 185lbs. Plenty of power just not very confidence inspiring handling wise.

Any others experience this giving a comparatively heavier passenger a ride?

No problems giving rides on my Ninja 500 so I thought this was a bit odd.

anybody with a black bandit painted their wheels that bronze/gold color similar to a World Rally Blue Subaru WRX? I'm debating trying it out but wanted to see if anyone had pics before I made the jump.

The R6's came in that scheme and I think it would look great on a Bandit.

Corbin Seat

Just got my Corbin seat in for my GSX, unfortunately, it looks like I will have to remove, or at least loosen the frame mounted luggage rack in order to put the seat on. The seat is just slightly longer than stock and with it having a thick, fiberglass pan, there is no give.

Has anyone else a similar problem and if so, were you able to correct it?
