I'm stuck on a 9 year old Apple right now (my 10 year old PC gave up the ghost last month).... so I can't take any pics and attach 'em. With any luck, I'll be buying a new HD-capable PC with a decent monitor & good speakers the 22nd of this month when Windows 7 is released.

If you can read the forum, you can attach! You could do it on a 386 from the 1990s

Cortez, for close-up pics of the v strom handguard install on a bandit, go to maximum suzuki , there are several write-up on the install there.
Personally, I had them on my bandit for about 6 months. They didnt really help all that much in the winter & I couldnt use my manic salamander bar ends with them on, so I ended up taking them back off. |

How hard is it to install heated grips and such on a 1200 Bandit? Is there sufficient juice with the stock electrics for heated vests and other such nonsense?
Anybody tried "Hippo Hands" on their Bandito? I just bought my 01 a few months ago and have been piling on a bunch of trouble free miles and am enjoying the bike very much. I would like to keep riding over the winter and am interested in staying toasty (I know, I live in SO KALIFORNISTAN, Boo-Hoo.) Still have had no oil-burning issues at all and the bike is approaching 29,000 mi. |

I've used Hippo Hands on many different bikes, down to below freezing temp., they work wonders, just take some practice getting to the faceshield and itch my nose at the traffic light.

I put the DL handguards on my Bandit but they were hitting the fairing on full lock turns. Since I do lots of back roads requiring such maneuvers, I took them off.
Old Hippo hands. Man they have been about for 20 or better years. An other quik tip ! Ziplock Gallon bags over your gloves. Especially in the rain. And, very large chemical rubber gloves work well over your riding gloves also. Just practice going through your controls with them to make sure all is good.

Speaking of rubber gloves, I use latex/nytrile gloves on the inside of my winter riding gloves, they prevent not only cold/moisture transfer from outside to my hands but also the sweat from my hands to get the inside of my riding gloves wet... You know those heated grips/gloves get the hands sweaty sometimes, and they get pretty stinky after a while.. the latex/nytrile gloves can prevent that from happening.

I have heated grips on my bandit 600, and I also run a heated jacket liner & heated gloves without any problems. I just got the gloves, but before that, I had been running the grips & liner. I dont think I will need the grips when the gloves are running tho, but they are nice to have when the temp. is too warm for the heated gloves, but a little chilly without.

Finally clear skies...so we took a ride today across the mountains and made a stop at Chickamauga Civil War Battlefield in N. GA. A bit cool out, but enjoyable nonetheless.
![]() Then we stopped by Thunder Creek in Chattanooga H-D to see what deals may be brewing on leftover Buells. Notice "HOGS ONLY" painted on the parking spaces; oh well they didn't seem to mind the Bandit there, and still let me score a free cup of coffee ![]()

Picked up my 3rd Bandit on Monday, what do you guys make of this.
![]() ![]() The left (clutch) side oil line seems to be seeping oil between the metal tubing and cloth braded tubing. Only occurs while engine is in operation, does not seep when engine is off sitting in the garage. Some residue on the tubing itself and on the exhaust header made me think that it's been seeping for a while now. I found out about it while teh bike was sitting idle for a few minutes and I started to see smoke and smell oil burning off the headers. Previous owner had no knowledge of oil leak.. Other than the oil leak, bike runs like a top..
