I had a '98 B12 for 8 years and it was rock solid. Then I had a Tiger 1050 for 3 years before it blew up on me.
Over the weekend I bought this for $3800 from a dealership in Oklahoma. I'm still waiting for them to realize they were robbed.

Very nice! I wish I had that luggage on my '09 ABS.

Wow, that's a hell of a deal with the luggage/exhaust and ABS from a dealership. How many miles? (not that it really matters since these keep going, and going, and going)

Congrats!

WHAAAT????

$3,800?? with all that (visible) stuff??? and from a dealership?????!

Almost 41,000 miles on mine (looks just like that), STILL solid as a rock, would LOVE to have a new toy, maybe not so much replace it, but to add a bike to the garage...... but daaaahmn, an old fashion (albeit refined), modern (albeit w/old technology), Bandit 1250 -used- will NOT fetch decent money on the used bike market....

but $3,800 for that fully bagged/Yosh' 1250 FROM A DEALERSHIP?????

.... whoa.

Bearing in mind the price differentials between the US and Australia, mine was about the same 'effective' price in comparison to new pricing. Standard exhaust but twin driving lights, full Givi set, new tyres and all on-the-road fees thrown in - and it was from a BMW dealership.

No breakdowns at all since i bought her, apart from a incorrect fuel filter that i put between fuel tap and carburettors, that wasn't letting gas run over when running low on reserve.

Best "mileage" is under 4.5L/100km, last rear tire (michelim macadam) lasted over 35k km, front (bridgestone btx bt014) is getting around the 30k.

No engine oil consumption, although using 100% sintectic car oil (castrol 0w40), since 2 years ago or something. Oil changes changed to 10k km. Slight clutch slippage occurs over 8000rpm if i do not let the engine warms propperly. When oil is new, she can hold iddle with no choke just after 10 or 20s.

Im mostly a night rider, so i had to add, H4 hid lighting system and those lateral lights (focus in to the curves).
Also have an alternative foot pegs that arent installed since i put the bars, but are very helpful in longer rides (>3h).

I think ill never sell her.
Did you see any others from space on this ride?

Its an ABS. Full Suzuki bags. Yosh pipe. Braided steel brake lines. 9500 miles. It does have minor scratches on the left side where the previous owner dropped it in the driveway (see the pics). The left turn signal was loose in the socket, and I thought it would need replaced. Turns out I just had to loosen the plate, pull it back into place, and tighten it back up. The dealer didn't even list the Yosh or the brake lines. They were an offroad/marine dealership in the middle of nowhere and I don't think they had a clue what they had. They seemed suprised I wasn't trying to haggle with them on the price. I did have to drive 450 miles to get it.

Which bags are those? I scored Givi side and top mounts on flea bay and trying to decide on side bags under $400. So far the contenders are Shad SH 42 for $310 or Givi E45N for about 80 bucks more. Was thinking Pelicans or Seahorse but decided the capacity was too small. Any opinions?

The side-bags you see pictured are Suzuki/Givi..... the top box I hear, may or may not be identical to a Givi purchase, though a Givi box WILL mount on the Suzuki lugguge rack. Something along the lines of..... a top box made-to-order by Suzuki, manufactured by Givi, or some'n like that.

In my opinion, you gets what you pays for..... Buy cheap, and ya gets cheap. Stick with the MAJOR/reputable brand names, and don't try to save money on your hard-bag purchases.

If I had to do it all over again (or if anybody wants to give me money enough for my Suzuki built lugguge rack & top box mount) I would go (or replace my set-up) with SW Motech's quick-detach side-bag mounts. I want to call Twisted Throttle and learn more about how the SW Motech top box base plate mounts to the bike, and if I hafta mount a universal Givi to the SW......

It is sooooo cool to be able to remove your side-bags and have no obvious signs that your naked bike is set up to carry hard lugguge. I had this set-up on my FZ1 and LOVED it! The added bonus is the bags fit closer to the bike via SW Motech's mounts.

What to do?

Hey inmates! I just joined because I am in the hunt for a new (to me) Bandit 1200 and this thread has been an awesome read!!

So I have found a 2003 in great condition for $2800 cdn, BUT it has 81,000 kms or 50,625 miles. is the mileage too high?? should I look for a bike with lower km's?

I currently ride an '84 Honda 750 Nighthawk "S', it is a great bike but I want something more for weekend trips and the odd 1-2 week bike trip. This bike is 27 years old and only has 71,000kms......makes me think that 81,000 is high. The kms on the Bandit are 80% highway as it was used as a cummuter to and from work about an hour ride each way.

Thanks!!

Steve

If the past maintenance was good, that's not a lost of miles on that motor. That being said, the price does seem high for the year and the miles. Although your market may vary, I paid 2500 for a 1200s last march with 1/2 as many miles and some nice aftermarket goodies like gel seat, throttle meister throttle lock, case guards, and 2 bros. slip on/midpipe.

Fly and Ride? Craigslist in Lakeland Fl has this 05 1200s with 6k on it for $2995 OBO
