^^ True, but the best bargains are now in used or slightly-used bikes.

Of course, there are those that have to buy new.

i bought my 02 bandit 1200 exactly a year ago. it 11k miles on it--$3200. it already had a busa shock, lowering links, yosh can and holeshot header, and new sprokets (i put on a new chain 3 days later). I also put on a new set ov avon storms . it came with a new set of soft bags and a HID light that i still have not installed. I installed a rack and a jc whitney top box. the bike now has over 17k miles. NO REGRETS!

$3k?. Bummer for me. That means my 2000 that has been thrown down a couple times and doesn't have the stock fairing any more is probably worth about $79.

Not yet. Still nasty here in Iowa. Supposed to snow this weekend. That ground hog is full of crap. There's ALWAYS 6 more weeks of winter after Feb 2. However, I did sit on it last night while making vroom-vroom noises.

I'll give you $80.

Anything in particular to look out for on those 2000 models?

Only the 2001 and very few 2002's had the issue with burning oil. And at that not all of them burn oil. My 2001 burns less than a 1/2 quart every 3000-4000 miles. I consider that normal usage for a bike with more than 20k miles...

Just picked up a 1999 600 for 2k with 10k miles. I am very pleased!

Needs a little cleaning up, but otherwise in decent condition!

According to my manual (2008), the GVWR is 1048 pounds or 475 kilograms.

"Dry mass" is listed as 504 pounds or 229 kilograms.

Fuel capacity is 5.0 gal/19l

Oil capacity is 3.7qt/3500ml

Coolant capacity is 3.5qt/3.3l

Still waiting for someone to build a good one piece touring windshield for the new bandit. Sigh!
