GearUp PickUp

I've had a couple Cargo hacks in the past that I used to haul just about anything in. Since downsizing my fleet I missed the Cargo Hacks Utility so I decided to convert my '07 Ural Arctic GearUp into a PickUp hack. Another words is't a passenger Tub with a pickup bed instead of the trunk. Kinda like a "Roadster PickUp". It's all metal except the wooden side rails and Pickup bed floor. I also added a rack across the sidecar nose at the same level as the pickup rails to haul long things like lumber or a litter.

Ural

Sounds very interesting. Those Ural's really grow on you. I love my Tourist, plus use it for many errands.

Looks Nice!

Oops - didn't mean to shout... looks like the server fixt that fer me!

I went through your flikr account and saw earlier pic's of the arctic. Notice you've dropped the ammo can and moved the wheel over there. Is that mounted direct to the body, or is there some bracketry on the inside?

Ammo Can & spare mounting

I guess you could say "I dropped the ammo can", if you look close it's now welded into the bottom of the tub with the opening to the rear. There is a wooden floor in the pickup bed over the ammo can. Between the ammo can and the seat is another compartment to carry things out of site, like a jack, rain gear & canteen. The spare is mounted with the original trunk mount on the side of the tub with plates on the inside the tub.

Howdy Dennis,

Very cool, I like it. Looks like your all setup to "truck" the extra gear ( beer ) this year while in Death Valley.

That's very cool, Dennis.

The stake sides look like they come off. Do you have a tarp to cover the bed if needed?

Yep they will come right off. I put stake pockets in the bed just like a real PU. I do have a single wood screw in each so they won't bounce out. Yes I've got a Surplus Camo cover that fits over the bed rails and all like a shower cap. Only thing it's Woodland Camo and not water proof. It's just for prying eyes when I've got something in there. (Until I come up with something better)
