The choke lever gets past the thingy and the choke slaps open. A photo of a nice, unmolested item will help me twist and bend mine back into shape.
Had the same problem with my OE choke when I was putting on an XR's choke plate. My rod got loose and the spring unwound. There is a spring under the stamped steel end of the choke rod. Just hit the choke rod with a light hammer from the opposite end of the stamped metal and the stamped metal will pop out and see if you can fix the spring (careful that spring doesn't get lost). Unfortunately no new parts are available for the spring or spring plate. I tried to fix my spring, but it was just beyond help. You might be able to clip off a bit of the spring and reconfigure the metal bend that holds the end of the choke rod. Good luck!

I went ahead and got a nice new FCR41 Sudco kit. It is 1000 times better construction and quality than the OE Keihin and no choke. Pumper power!

A used OE Kehin will run around @ $120 off Ebay.

shock shipping?

stupid question:

how do you ship a shock overseas?

My idea is to get a used shock on ebay, send it to esp or somesuch place that revalves and resprings these puppies BUT they have about 285 psi of nitrogen in them and I do not know if I can find a place to do that down here, sooo...

by ship? by air?

whats the process for people that dont live in the us, or europe where this stauff gets done?

cheers and thanks!

Mine was used, and had no mounts, but the stock ones fit it.

Watch out for clearance for your compression release. I had to heat a spot, and enlarge the relief dent to make room to keep it from rubbing. My main concern was that it might keep the exhaust valve from closing completely.

this?

My spring came off the end of the shaft, the only way to get it back on was to tap out the tin cap holding the spring, reconnecting the spring and tapping the tin cap back into place.

I took the choke shaft out (before I put on the XR's Only choke plate) and used a skinny philips screwdriver in it's place to tap out the tin cap. It pops right out and fits snugly when you put it back - never gave me a lick of trouble afterward.

Don't go the way of Shinkos.....Next thing you know, you will be buying $18 footpegs off ebay.

Geez....sometimes I wonder about you girls. Keep bitching about a good deal and keep paying $150 for footpegs...and the Man will be happy.

Like I said before....those pegs stood up to shit I threw at them with my 290 lb body/gear...and more. They are just fine.

By the way.....the 244 was an awesome tire on our 600L's and my NX650. That tire was awesome on the Big Dig Ride I did.....

And those cheap ass, cast China footpegs will stand up to more than most of you can dish out.

Now granted....if I had a couple of sponsors and was running the Baja 500....I would have them buy the $150 pegs and the $200 tires. But for the rest of us....living on a "reality budget"....just chill.

Sorry for venting....but tired of hearing the girly complaining.....

Mine is white (pardon the mud spatters.)

I have no idea how old it is, but it does have some staining from fuel bleedthough. I don't know whether the compression release interference is from ill-design, from swelling, or just a peculiarity of the fit to my bike, but it is something to keep in mind.

Thats the early, 6 spline sprocket. Just what you need.

But why would you spend $40.00 for that one when a new one from CCP is only $29.51???

I don't know what CCP is, maybe they sell good stuff, but I would recommend making sure the quality of a primary sprocket is the best available.

DAMHIK.

CCP short for CheapCycleParts for those of us that have bought from them before.

Code don't you know.

Secret hand shakes.

Nod and a wink.

good question steve!

the problem is I put the order in yesterday and forgot to add the sprocket and I already ordered it once from cheapcycle and they had it backordered for about 3 weeks holding off my other parts thinking it would arrive...

so thats the only one I could find on ebay! its the same number except it does not have the mk2 designation...

i also tried expedited shipping this time see how long it takes this time...

jejeje

thanks bud!

ooooh I need to paypal you btw...............................................

cheers
